Saturday 15 September Henley FoA 4 v 0 Bilton Ajax
An encouraging start for Ajax u9s despite going down to a spirited Henley side.
From the kick of defensive pairing of Oliver Woodcock and Bradley Morgan were forced into action and Craig Manning produced the first of a string of fine saves.
William Miller ,Mattie Heales and James Moffitt battled hard in midfield creating opportunities on both wings for Luke Thomas and Jamie White.
Henley led two nil at the break as Ajax rang the changes introducing Ciaran Dempsey and Thomas Morrell but two further quick goals from Henley saw them stretch their lead to four.
Ajax finally sparked into life,Ben Pell shot just wide, Elliot Manning saw a fine effort cleared of the line and long range efforts from Oliver Woodcock and Jamie White came agonisingly close but Ajax couldn't get the goal they deserved.
A great first match boys.
Saturday 22 September Bilton Ajax 3 v 1 Radford Rangers
Ajax under 9, so recorded their first win of the 2007/2008 season with a thrilling win over Radford Rangers.
The Bilton boys started brightly William Miller played a neat pass to man of the match Elliot Manning to shoot just wide before Luke Thomas latched onto the ball wide on the left wing, showing sublime skill he drifted past the Radford defence before coolly shooting into the back off net.
Radford rallied testing Ciaran Dempsey & James Moffitt in defence,the pair stood firm until five minutes before half time when Oliver woodcock was harshly adjudged to have handled in the area resulting in a Radford penalty that was neatly struck past keeper Craig Manning
Ajax came out fighting after the break Thomas Morrell broke from midfield laying the ball neatly at the feet of Ben Pell to lash the ball into net restoring Biltons lead.
Ajax now went on to control the game Jamie White struck the bar with a terrific long range strike whilst in defence a determined Bradley Morgan was always first to the ball.
Victory was sealed when Benn Pell broke free to score his second and the teams third.

Bilton Ajax 3 v 3 Wulston Dynamo (Ajax win after ET and Penalties)
Bilton finally emerged victorious in this thrilling encounter following extra time and the drama of penalty shoot out.
Ajax started slowly and after sustained Wulstan pressure conceded an early own goal swiftly followed by a deserved second Dynamoes goal.
Bilton finally awoke and following fine interplay between BenPell and James Moffit the ball was released to William Miller who crossed for Elliott Manning to score an easy tap in.
Following the interval Ajax were right back in the game Luke Jones again showed great skill to slide a defence splitting ball through to Matty Heales who laid the ball of to Ciaran Dempsey allowing him to lash the ball into the back of the net to bring the scores level.
Within seconds Dempsey was on the score sheet again after controlling a Thomas Morrell clearance he coolly stabbed the ball passed the wulstan keeper to make the score 3-2.
Wulstan pressed hard again but could not get passed tough tackling Bradley Morgan who went on to be named man of the match.
With seconds remaining the game looked won but a long clearance from Dynamos keeper caused a scramble in the Ajax box and the ball was somehow forced into the net resulting in extra time and penalties.
Ajax keeper Craig Manning performed heroics saving three penalties until Oliver Woodcock stepped up to clinch victory with a thunderous penalty to seal a great win.
Mid Warks League
13th October 2007 Central Ajax 4 v 4 Bilton Ajax
Total football came to Warwick on Saturday when the boys of Bilton Ajax travelled to play the boys of Central Ajax in what proved to be a thrilling encounter.
Bilton roared into the lead following a neat Luke Jones cross right to the feet of Ciaran Dempsey who stroked the ball into central goal. The game had just restarted when Ben Pell won the ball in his own box and sent a fine pass down the right wing for Jamie White to run onto and blast the ball past the central keeper.
Central responded before half time, twice netting past keeper Craig Manning despite the best efforts of Elliot Manning and Will Miller in defence.
Ajax started the second half brightly, Thomas Morrell was brought in to mid field and quickly created an opportunity for Ciaran Dempsey to score his succeed with a fine left foot finish making it 3- 1 to Bilton.
Central kept testing defensive pairing of Oliver Woodcock and Bradley Morgan and eventually equalised when Bilton failed to clear a corner.
Jamie white then stepped up to produce a stunning individual goal that earned him the man of the match award. picking the ball up in his oown half he neatly swept passed the central defines before unleashing a 20 metre strike into the central net restoring Biltons lead.
Sadly Bilton could not hold on, with seconds reaming Central picked up a loose clearance and broke quickly to score and level the game at four all.
Saturday 20th October 2007 Bilton Ajax 5 v 2 Lawford United
Ajax u9‘s showed flashes of individual flair, but were eventually overcome by a more organised and structured Lawford United side.
Shortly after the kick-off Ben Pell had a good shot on target, but was denied by Lawford's keeper. Elliott Manning then took a powerful free kick which was deflected away late in the first half. The score at half-time was 0 - 0.
Lawford came out strong for the second-half and produced a goal almost immediately. Jamie White levelled the game with another brilliant individual goal. Ajax had been passing and maintaining possession well but started to become disorganised and Lawford scored three quick goals. Ajax managed to compose their selves and were rewarded by Luke Jones scoring the second goal for Ajax.
Even with man of the match Bradley Morgan, performing heroics in defence, one more goal just before the whistle, left the game 5 - 2 to Lawford.
Saturday 27th October 2007 Bilton Ajax 2 – 4 Kenilworth Colts
Bilton Ajax took an early lead after a pass from Elliott Manning to Jaime White cut through Kenilworth's defence. Jaime's shot was too powerful for Kenilworth's keeper to hold onto leaving Matty Heales to tap it in. Shortly before half-time, Kenilworth equalised from a corner after some poor marking from Ajax.
Bilton went ahead in the second half via a goal from Elliott Manning. Unfortunately Ajax could not hold onto their lead and Kenilworth equalised bringing the score to two all. Kenilworth then gained the lead after Oliver Woodcock scored an own goal, while trying to clear the ball off of the Ajax goal line. Ajax battled on but shortly before full-time, Kenilworth scored again, leaving the final result four two to Kenilworth.
Man of the match for Bilton Ajax was Thomas Morrell, for his fine marking and sheer effort in defence.
Saturday 3rd November 2007 – Supplementary Cup Round 2.
Kenilworth Colts 1 – 2 Bilton Ajax
The two teams were evenly matched through out the whole game. This meant Jamie Whites pace and finishing proved decisive in the end as he scored Bilton’s first goal and set up the second for Elliott Manning to slip past the keeper. Bilton used their subs well and showed how much they have improved with some fine passing.
Bradley Morgan again was solid in defence while Luke Jones simply had too many tricks for Kenilworth’s defence to handle. William Miller impressed with his ball control also and won man of the match for his efforts.
All of the Bilton Ajax team played well and easily put in the best performance so far this season and deserved to win 2 – 1. The win means they now go through to the next round of the cup.
Saturday 10th November Banbury Irish U9’s 2 – 2 Bilton Ajax U9’s
Bilton Ajax had to travel far for this away league game. Banbury Irish took the lead after a failed last ditch attempted to clear the ball of the line by Ajax’s principal defender Bradley Morgan. Bilton Ajax responded with some quality football with James Moffitt supplying excellent passes in midfield. Also in midfield was Troy who prevented Banbury from breaking through into Ajax’s half. All this effort was rewarded with Ciaran Dempsey scoring for Ajax just before half time.
During the second half Ajax’s defender Oliver Woodcock made some fierce, decisive tackles. Then Jamie White scored another individual goal to take Ajax into the lead. Banbury fought back and their striker found Ajax’s net shortly before full time leaving the score at two all.
Luke Jones playing in defence, showed he can turn his skill to any position, earned Man of the Match.
Saturday 17th November Wulstan Dynamos U9’s 6 – 1 Bilton Ajax U9’s
Bilton Ajax learnt some valuable lessons in this match. These two teams had met before in a cup game and Bilton Ajax knew how skilful the main striker was, and how important defending tightly was. Wulstan capitalised on their strikers speed and skill early and after 15 minutes were 3 nil ahead. Ajax began to panic and scored 2 own goals and almost gave a penalty away following a handball on the edge of their penalty area. Wulstan were playing good football and scored once more before half time leaving the score 6 nil to Wulstan.
After a talk from the manager at the interval Ajax showed how strong their spirit is by conceding no further goals and scoring 1 via Man of the Match, Ciaran Dempsey. The goal means Ciaran is now joint top goal scorer with Jamie White.
Saturday 24 November Woodford United U9’s 4 v 5 Bilton Ajax U9’s
Bilton showed lessons have been learnt and all of Ajax played with skill and passion.
Luke Jones stared in goal for the first half as Ajax’s regular keeper was sidelined through illness. Woodford capitalised on the situation and took the lead. Bilton responded via goal from man of the match Jamie White. Jamie upfront and Elliott Manning in midfield tore Woodford’s defence apart with some fine passing and cheeky tricks. The pair has hit on a winning system and Jamie completed a hat trick before half time.
For the second half Elliott Manning served in goal. Woodford scored a goal which Bilton’s regular keeper probably would have saved. Jamie supplied a fine cross for Luke to tap in. Woodford scored once more after a rare defensive error. Jamie kept Bilton ahead with another goal. Woodford managed another goal but at the final whistle Bilton had won 5 – 4.
Saturday 1st December Henley in Arden U9’s 2 – Bilton Ajax U9’s 1
Bilton Ajax was at home for this game against the first team they ever encountered. Henley proved too much in the first match winning 4 – nil. Ajax confirmed how far they have progressed, so far this season, during this 2-1 defeat.
Ajax took the lead from a Jamie White goal. Henley drew level even with Craig Manning making some spectacular saves and Bradley Morgan and Ciaran Dempsey defending well. Despite the best efforts of Ben Pell and the rapidly improving Troy upfront Ajax couldn’t regain the lead.
The second half was very close with some fine passing from Ajax, but Henley scored and kept the lead to the final whistle. Ajax can hold their heads high though as all of the team played with skill and enthusiasm. Tom Morrell for Ajax was awarded man of the match for several game saving tackles.
MWJFL Cup Quarter Final - Saturday 8th December 2007 Under 9’s
Bilton Ajax 0 – 4 Woodloes Juniors
This game was a quarter final cup round, played at Bilton Ajax’s home ground in appalling weather. Ajax performed admirably but Woodloes showed great skill in passing the ball around the pitch and went ahead by 4 goals in the first half.
During the second half the weather got progressively worse and Bilton Ajax had to dig deep and showed great tenacity by not conceding any further goals. However the Ajax parents and players need to better prepare themselves for more cold wet matches as the season progresses.
The final score would have been higher if Bradley Morgan and Oliver Woodcock had not battled hard in defence. And Luke Jones dazzled again with some crafty tricks on the left wing. Up at the front Ben Pell, William Miller and Man of the match Elliott Manning posed a constant threat to Woodloes

Bilton Ajax 3 - 0 Central Ajax
BILTON started the new year with a thrilling victory over Central Ajax of Warwick. Luke Jones opened the scoring following up a Matti Heales cross. Benn Pell and Ciaran Dempsey were resolute in defence but Craig Manning was forced to produce some terrific saves. William Miller battled hard in midfield linking well with Jamie White who sent Bilton to victory with two great strikes either side of half time.

Stratford Wanderers 1 - 2 Bilton Ajax
Bilton Ajax travelled far for this away game. Ajax kicked off and soon found Stratford to be a very disciplined and organised team. Stratford also proved to be the most physical team that Ajax had come up against. Late in the first half the deadlock was broken when Elliott Manning scored a fantastic free kick to give Ajax the lead. Craig Manning in goal for Ajax did some fine saves to dash Stratford’s hopes.
During the second half Man of the Match Matty Heales produced some excellent defending. Stratford though broke through Ajax’s defence and scored to equalize. Ajax responded well with Luke Jones twisting and turning to supply the ball up to the hard working Ben Pell and Ciaran Dempsey. Eventually this tactic worked as Ciaran lunged for the ball and scored to push Ajax ahead.

Kenilworth Warden Colts 2 - 1 Bilton Ajax
Ajax’s recent run of good form came to an end when they were out played by a better team in Kenilworth. Ajax were under pressure from the kick off and rarely ventured into Kenilworth’s half. Man of the match Oliver Woodcock had a busy game in defence but even he could not prevent Kenilworth going ahead in the first half. Ajax replied with goal from defender Ciaran Dempsey just before the break.
During the second half Craig Manning showed cat like skill in goal but could not stop Kenilworth from scoring again. In truth Ajax kept losing their shape and this was exploited immediately by Kenilworth every time. As usual there were fine individual performances from some of the Ajax players but they didn’t gel as a team

Bilton Ajax 2 – 5 Norton Lindsay Colts
Bilton Ajax played this ‘home’ game at the pleasant Whitehall Recreation ground; as their official site is still deemed too bad to play on. Straight from the kick off Bilton Ajax showed how well they can play. For the first few minutes of the game Norton Lindsay Colts could not get near the ball and it was a pleasure to watch Ajax play with such poise and control. Unfortunately Ajax lost their cohesion and seemed to lose their bearings just as Norton found theirs. Norton capitalised on some basic defensive errors and went 3 goals ahead just before half time.
During the second half Ajax regained some composure and Man of the Match Jamie White scored twice. Norton weren’t finished though and netted another two, leaving the final score at 5 – 2 to Norton.

Bilton Ajax 2 – 0 Banbury Irish
Following the flashes of total football during last weeks game, Bilton Ajax played this match with a new found confidence. The whole team passed the ball around with ease. This gave Ajax time to build up their attacks. At one point Bradley Morgan played a through ball for Jamie White to hit into Banbury Irish’s net to give Ajax the lead. Man of the match Max played with real determination in midfield, winning tackles and displaying good ball control.
During the second half Matty Heales showed that he can play in any position by keeping a clean sheet when he swapped with regular keeper Craig Manning. Craig enjoyed his run on pitch and scored following an Elliott Manning cross. This was the first game this season that Ajax played consistently well for the full 50 minutes, and were thrilling to watch.

Bilton Ajax 1 – 2 Stockton
Bilton Ajax were up against strong opposition in this away match. Stockton played a very tight game and were quick to challenge Ajax if they had the ball. Ajax wouldn’t be flustered though and went ahead following a Ben Pell Goal. Stockton responded quickly with two goals of their own, to finish winners in an exciting match.
Again all of Ajax played well. Craig Manning was awarded Man of the Match for several fine saves and some thoughtful throws that opened the game up for Ajax. In midfield Ciaran Dempsey worked hard making various tackles to deny Stockton a run at Ajax’s goal. In truth Ajax’s defence was overworked but Bradley Morgan and Oliver Woodcock rose to the occasion. Upfront Luke Jones and Jamie White were closed down to quickly to really cause Stockton any major problems, and in the end this summed up the whole game for Ajax.

Bilton Ajax 1 – 2 Stockton
It was a case of déjà vu, for this home match against Stockton. The teams were fairly equal in terms of possession and chances for most of the match. Again Craig Manning was awarded Man of the Match for keeping Ajax in the game with plenty of solid saves. Stockton had capitalised on Ajax’s tendency to lose formation and went one nil up. Then they scored a second goal from a well taken free kick just before half time.
During the break Ajax were told to hold their positions and pass more. Ajax followed this tactic for the second half and reaped the benefits. Luke Jones, Elliott Manning and Ben Pell showed Stockton how to play on several occasions and this lead to Ben scoring for Ajax. All Ajax need to do is play this open, passing football for the whole match and they will be a force to be reckoned with.

Lawford United 2 - 3 Bilton Ajax
Bilton Ajax proved how far they have progressed in this their first season with a fine team effort against stiff opposition. Lawford went ahead early with a fortuitous gaol. Ajax kept cool and played some good football. Bradley Morgan supplied a supper ball through Lawford’s midfield for Jamie White to run onto and score. Ajax started to get the upper hand and again Jamie scored following a mad scramble on Lawford’s goal line.
Lawford came out strong in the second half and Luke Jones headed a certain goal off of Ajax’s line. Lawford were relentless though an eventually scored an equaliser. Elliott Manning responded by taking a chance when almost next to the corner flag, which finally gave Ajax a thoroughly deserved win. Oliver Woodcock was awarded Man of the Match for his contribution in defence.

Balsall and Berkswell 2 - 0 Bilton Ajax
Table leaders Berkswell proved that good tactics wins in the end. They were helped by some fantastic goal keeping which denied several fine shoots from Elliott Manning and Luke Jones. Indeed Ajax played with plenty of flare and commitment at times and probably had more possession than Berkswell but Ajax could not convert all their efforts into a goal. Berkswell kept cool under pressure and were quick on the break. They turned their chances into goals and went into the second half with a one goal advantage.
Ajax battled hard, no doubt inspired by Man of the Match Bradley Morgan’s efforts in defence. However Berkswell scored again on the break and won 2 nil in the end. Through out the game Ajax showed some flashes of real skill, which were a pleasure to watch.

Bilton Ajax 0 - 1 Woodford United
This was a well fought battle with Ajax having the majority of the possession and chances. Woodford claimed the victory though with goal following a mad scramble on Ajax’s line. Ajax’s Tom Morrell in defence cleared plenty of balls up field to Ajax’s midfield pairing, Ciaran and Max. Man of the Match Troy had his best game of the season but Woodfords keeper saved all of his shots.
Ajax had one last ditch attempt when Jamie White was awarded the games only free kick just inside Woodford’s half. Although it was a long shot Jamie’s kick was very nearly the equalizer. Ajax just could not score and eventually suffered defeat to the vastly improved Woodford United. As always it was a joy to watch all the players enjoying their game of football

Wulston Dynamo 4 - 2 Bilton Ajax
Bilton Ajax displayed true determination in this match. They were losing 4 – 1 but kept battling and started to dominate the game towards the end. Wulston took an early lead and then scored another goal, taken from within their half! Again Ajax were losing their formation too easily and Wulston were quick to capitalize on any errors.
Mattie Heales replaced regular keeper Craig Manning for the second half. Mattie stopped many shots but eventually Wulston scored to go 3 goals ahead. Man of the match Elliott Manning produced a goal from long range that lifted Ajax’s spirit. Then Luke Jones scored and looked like getting another after being awarded a penalty. Luke struck the ball well and into the bottom corner but Wulston’s keeper some how saved it. Eventually Ajax ran out of time and recorded their third loss in a row.

Bilton Ajax 0 - 6 Stratford Wanderers
Stratford Wanderers only had six men before kick off for this match and it was agreed that they could borrow one of Ajax’s players. They were very lucky with their selection! Ben Pell graciously accepted the role of striker for Stratford and scored a hat trick before half time. Ben showed what he is capable of if he is supplied with the ball and Ajax should learn from this experience.
Stratford’s seventh man arrived for the second half releasing Ben to play for Ajax. Unfortunately Ajax could not utilise Ben’s abilities as well as Stratford had and failed to score a goal. For the second match in a row Mattie Heales replaced regular keeper Craig Manning for the second half, and showed some improvements in his goalkeeping skills. However Stratford scored another 3 goals. Oliver Woodcock won the Man of the Match trophy for his tenacity in defence.

Radford Rangers 3 - 2 Bilton Ajax
If the Radford Ranger official who refereed this match could tell the time the result may have been different! He couldn’t and it wasn’t.
Radford went ahead early by an opportunistic goal. Ajax responded with Will Miller scoring a fantastic goal by chipping the Radford keeper. Both teams were battling hard with Tom, Ollie and Brad showing their mettle in defence. Upfront for Ajax Jamie was his usual ever present threat with Troy providing support. Radford scored again to lead going into the second half.
Ajax turned on the style for the second half and produced some lovely football, this resulted in Elliott setting up Jamie, who didn’t hesitate in scoring. Ajax continued to pressurise Radford with Luke seemingly being in every position on the field. Just as Man of the Match Will was brought back onto the pitch to see if he could score again for Ajax the referee lost six minutes from the allotted time and blew the final whistle.

Bilton Ajax 1 - 4 Hornets
The last match of the season for Ajax against the league champions proved just beyond the lads but they put in a valiant performance and all of them can hold their heads high. Hornets came out strong and it wasn’t long before Ajax were 3 nil down. Luke Jones scored a brilliant left footed goal to bring Ajax back into the game. Hornets again applied the pressure and went into the break 4 goals to one.
The second half saw the tables turned as Ajax became dominant in terms of possession and chances. The big difference being Hornets scored from their chances but Ajax just could not get the ball over Hornets goal line. Ajax must improve on their finishing if they are going to capitalise on their undoubted talents next season

The new season was always going to be nothing short of a fresh start for Bilton under tens, with three of their key players from last season moving on to play football at a higher standard. Pre-season training, along with a few games in tournaments and friendly’s showed that the new line up still had match winning potential even with new players still to find their position within the team.
Saturday morning saw the under 10s with all the team spirit that was always so good to see at every game last year. They knew the Tazmanian Cruisers were going to be a tough game as they had just come down from last years 1st division.
The first half started with what looked to be an evenly matched game with Adam Cox holding off some well put together attacking moves from the Cruisers, but with about ten minuets gone, two quick goals saw Bilton trailing against a team that seemed to be getting stronger by the minute.
The under 10’s heads did not drop and pushed forward with Oliver Howes making his presence known on the right wing which resulted in a Blair Girvan trade mark beauty in the top left of the Cruisers goal.
2-1 down at half time and the game was up for grabs but the Cruisers came out stronger than ever punishing Bilton’s defenses yet again, their persistence was rewarded with another two quick goals but just like the first half Bilton kept pushing. It was now the Cruisers defense to feel the heat as a great shot from Charlie was tipped over the bar and more play was seen in their half of the pitch with Blair Girvan finally netting again. The last five minutes were mainly all Bilton’s but the goals just didn’t come.
At the final whistle Bilton were beaten but the game was certainly no Cruise for the Tazmanians.

Bilton Ajax 4 - 1 Kenilworth Town
With last weeks defeat put behind them, Bilton started strong with what already looked like a more confident team than last week. With the Kenilworth defense under continuous attack, a deliberate hand ball gave Bilton a chance to take the lead from the penalty spot. Adam Cox did just that with a confident shot to the corner.
Bilton held the lead for the next ten minutes with some impressive play but Kenilworth’s persistence paid off when a shot found its way through three defenders and into Bilton’s net to put the scores even.
The second half saw some great football with Blair Girvan finding a new strike partnership in Harry Clay, and all our midfielders tracking back to cover for some brave goal keeping by Harry Dimmock.
Harry Clay’s skill on the right wing started opening up Kenilworth’s defense resulting in a powerful shot at the keeper which wasn’t held to give Blair Girvan an easy goal. A few minutes later and Harry did exactly the same, this time it was Ty Lancbury picking up the rebound and confidently placing it in the Kenilworth net.
With Bilton leading 3-1 the game was in the bag but Harry was not finished yet and with a lovely dribble past two defenders and a left footer beating the keeper on his near post he got the goal he well deserved.
The game ended 4-1 to Bilton, a well earned victory, nice one lads.

Snitterfield Colts 1 – 1 Bilton Ajax
With yet another new team for the under 10s to test, Bilton went out looking to build on last weeks winning performance, but straight from the kick off it was obvious that the two sides were evenly matched. With about twenty minutes gone Snitterfield were looking as if they had started to find their game and Bilton were under pressure, then out of the blue Matthew Court put a great ball through for Blair Girvin to strike and put Ajax a goal up.
At half time spirits were high in the Bilton camp but they now faced a second half against a team that surely thought they shouldn’t be a goal down. Bilton matched them with strength and aggression, not to the referee’s approval of course but suddenly a cross from Sitterfield’s left wing caught a Bilton players foot and an own goal put the scores even.
The game swung from end to end for the remaining twenty minutes with nothing between the two sides. Ty Lantsbaury played a good role as left midfield whilst Jack Smith showed he had not lost his knack in perfectly timed tackles.
The game finished all square at 1-1 with two happy teams and an exhausted referee. Well done lads, (and ref).

Bilton Ajax 3 – 6 Central Ajax
The first half showed a slow start from Bilton with Central Ajax taking full advantage, especially their number 10. After an early goal putting the visitors ahead, Bilton’s confidence looked to be dropping by the minute but finally a superb shot from Charlie McQuillan could not be held by Central’s keeper and Blair Girvin took full advantage to put the scores even.
Unfortunately Bilton did not build on the equalizer and Central Ajax kept pushing forward against an unstable home side, within minutes they had scored another 2 goals and Bilton were 1 - 3 down. A Gutsy first half performance from Thomas Pope kept Bilton’s right wing moving and with a cross from Blair Girvin, Charlie McQuillan struck with his awesome left foot to put the scores 2- 4 at half time.
After strong words at half time from team manager Adam (Cloughy) McQuillan, Bilton went out with a changed side provoking an all out attack, but that it certainly was not. Central Ajax were not shaken and notched another 2 goals to seal the game, a quick break from Bilton shortly before the end of the game gave Blair Girvin his second goal and put the score at 3-6, but at the final whistle Bilton walked from the field Knowing they could have done better.

Bilton Ajax 3 – 2 Admirals Green
A week on from their below standard performance against Central Ajax and it was obvious the under 10’s wanted to show themselves and their manager what they were capable of.
The best first half performance of the season so far saw Bilton keep a relentless pace against the visitors with Blair Girvin netting first to build the Ajax spirits even higher. Mathew Court played an excellent role as sweeper working well with Goal keeper Harry Dimmock to hold off any attacking play from the Admirals, whilst at the other end 2 great goals from Blair Girvin and Harry Clay put Ajax 3 – 0 up at half time.
The crowd lined themselves up on the side line to hopefully witness another goal fest but they were soon hushed when 2 quick goals from the Admirals put the visitors straight back in the game. Bilton looked to be on the back foot for a brief period but showed great determination in not letting the Admirals spirits go too high and by stepping up a gear for the last ten minutes they prevented the Admirals achieving a great come back.
The game finished a very satisfying 3 – 2 to Bilton.

Bilton Ajax 1 v 3 Norton Lindsey
As with all early season games, this was another test for Bilton against a team who they had not yet played with their current line up, but with spirits high from last weeks win and knowing Norton’s similar match stats, Saturday’s game should have been an even battle.
For the first half is certainly was that, entertaining, end to end football with good chances from both sides. Bilton used the wings well with Harry Clay on the right and Charlie McQuillan on the left. Midfield were again strong with Adam Cox and Jack Smith working together to look quite formidable at times and as last week Mathew Court showing he’s the man for sweeper.
It was easy to see this game was never going to be goalless and it was the visitor’s attack that finally broke the deadlock to go a goal up, but no sooner had they stopped celebrating, a great ball straight from the whistle by Blair Girvin put Harry Clay through to net the quickest of all equalizers.
Half time saw the scores even and the game anybody’s but the second half was different.
Bilton had lost their momentum and at times looked to be lacking in confidence and strength, what seemed to be constant attacking play from Norton soon put them in the lead with a third to follow within minutes.
Changes were made by Bilton to try and get the first half form back but Norton were now too strong. Bilton held out for the remainder of the game but a disappointing defeat at the final whistle.

Bilton Ajax 1 – 7 Tazmanian Cruisers
Saturday morning saw the under 10’s suffer their biggest defeat of the season so far. With an incredibly slow start, even by Bilton’s Standards, the Tazmanians were soon a goal up and kept a strong pace to put them in a comfortable 4 goal lead by half time.
The second half did look a bit more manageable for Bilton as they kept the Cruisers onslaught at bay, for a while at least. A great set-piece corner between Charlie McQuillan and Harry Clay ended with Blair Girvin putting Ajax on the score board. The celebrations were soon silenced by a further 3 goals from the Tazmanians to give them a well deserved 1 – 7 victory, but credit must be given to Bilton for not letting their heads drop against a team that were clearly of a higher standard, and with Harry Dimmock’s valiant performance to keep the score out of double figures.

Kenilworth Wardens 1 - 6 Bilton Ajax
Saturday morning saw Bilton give a performance to surpass any this season.
With the switch in positions of Jack Smith and Mathew Court now beginning to take effect, Bilton were giving the Wardens a hard time from the start.
The goals started to come with a long range free kick From Blair Girvin beautifully placed in the top corner and then with a set piece corner using Ty Lantsbury, Blair netted his second.
The second half started with some pressure from Kenilworth and they were soon rewarded with an early goal but Bilton responded well. Strong defending and pin point passing made the visitors unbeatable; Ty Lantsbury got his much deserved goal making it 1-3, then 2 in quick succession from Charlie McQuillan put the game beyond reach for the Wardens. The last goal went to Harry Clay after a great run and first class through ball from Ty. The final score of 1-6 was justifiable, Bilton’s beast performance of the season, well done lads.

Bilton Ajax 1 – 2 Tazmanian Cruisers
With confidence riding high after last weeks 6 – 1 victory, Bilton were up for a game against the Tazmanians. This was clearly shown from the whistle with the home side matching the Cruisers man for man in all aspects of the game. The Tazmanians strong attacking was kept at bay by good performances from defenders Jack smith and Adam Cox but the Cruisers made easy work of picking up a short goal kick and netting the ball to put them a goal up at half time.
Bilton started the second half just as strong as the first and it wasn’t long before Blair Girvin used his strength on the ball to go through the Tazmanians defense and score to put the game level. The Cruisers managed to step up their game and were soon rewarded by another goal and with confidence riding high the attacks kept coming, but a solid performance by goal keeper Harry Dimmock along with great commitment by the rest of the team kept the final score a respectable 1-2 to the Cruisers.

Kenilworth Town 2 – 5 Bilton Ajax
Going into the second half of the season, it is easy to notice the vast improvement in Bilton from their early season games. Saturday again saw the visitors bursting with confidence and setting the pace for the rest of the game. A goal each from Charlie McQuillan, Harry Clay and new arrival Lloyd Russell put Bilton in a formidable 0-3 lead at half time.
The second half was equally entertaining and it wasn’t long before Alex Lovelock, in his first game since returning to Bilton, struck from long range to put Bilton 4 goals up.
Kenilworth put up a good battle at times and were rewarded with 2 goals but not before Harry Clay scored his second to make the final score 2-5 to Bilton.

Central Ajax 2 – 2 Bilton Ajax
Saturday’s game turned out to be full of surprises for both teams. With the home team sitting much higher up the league table and comfortable wins against Bilton in the past, a win for Central Ajax should have been a fore gone conclusion.
From the whistle Central Ajax attacked well but was met with an organised and determined Bilton defence which held strong for the whole game, 15 minutes into the game the home team managed to break through and score to put them a goal up. Bilton came back even stronger and were rewarded with a penalty which Blair Girvin netted comfortably. 1 – 1 at half time and the game was up for grabs, Bilton kept up the pace in the second half and were soon rewarded from a great piece of team play that found Alex Lovelock in space to go on and score a great goal, Bilton held the lead for the next ten minutes but a small error again gave the home team the chance they needed to bring the scores level. The game ended a satisfying 2 – 2 draw for Bilton with full credit going to Jack Smith and his relentless defending, great game lads.

Bilton Ajax 0 – Admirals Green 3
First game back from the Christmas break and Bilton’s under 10’s all turned up looking hungry for a game, but from the whistle it was obvious that something was lacking. With a first half that saw few chances at either end and the teams looking equally matched, no score at the break was no surprise.
A goal was needed in the second half to break the deadlock but unfortunately it was conceded by Bilton and although some attacking moves worked well, a strong Admirals defense kept Ajax goalless.
To make matters worse the visitors managed to get 2 more goals to finish the game a very disappointing 0 – 3.

Norton Lindsey 2 – 0 Bilton Ajax
This was never going to be an easy one for Bilton against a home team much higher up the league table, but the first half saw good football from both teams in what was turning out to be a close cut game. Neither team seemed to be able to break the dead lock and so the first half ended goalless.
The second half was always going to be tough, up hill and against the wind. Bilton were finding it increasingly harder to get the ball up the field and with ten minutes gone a seemingly simple ball forward found a Norton striker who scored to put the home side a goal up. The rest of the half turned out to be hard work for Bilton who could not keep Norton at bay so it was only a matter of time before the home team netted their second to put the game beyond reach.

Bilton Ajax 0 – 6 Snitterfield Colts
After a couple of friendly’s which have ended in defeat for Ajax. Saturdays league game against the team which Bilton held to a one all draw away looked to be just what they needed. But it didn’t turn out that way, to say the least.
A much improved Snitterfield side shook the home team early in the first half and kept Bilton on a back foot for the rest of the game.
With the first half score at 0-3 there was still a glimmer of hope in the home side as the wind would be in their favor for the second half but another three goals from Snitterfield put the game beyond reach with the game ending in Bilton’s heaviest league defeat this season.

St Peters Celtic 3 – 2 Bilton Ajax
Bilton’s last league game of the season turned out to be one of the most exiting this year. As expected St Peters started strong but were equally matched by a very determined Bilton.
St Peters were the first to score but Bilton kept with the pace and in no time a well battled attack gave Shaun Rye his first goal of the season. St Peters went ahead again with a well taken short corner to be headed home to put them 2 -1 up at the break.
The second half saw St Peters put the pressure on Bilton once more with goal keeper Harry Dimmock saving a volley of shots to keep the visitors in the game but one great strike found the net to increase the lead to 3-1, but Bilton did not give in and shortly before the final whistle a well deserved goal from Blair Girvin put the final score at a respectable 3-2, unlucky lads, great game.

An excellent start to the season this Sunday with the under 11’s winning their opening game in convincing style. Man of the Match Matty Gibbard scored a remarkable 5 goals and newly-signed Brandon Britton tucked away a confident penalty. Well done to the team!

Sunday 16 September 2007 Bilton Ajax 1 v 3 Wellesbourne Wanderers
The team played well today but failed to find their edge against last year’s league winners. The first half was fairly evenly matched with a fast pace. Ajax conceded a goal after 5 minutes but pressured Wellesbourne with shots on goal from Stuart Clark (MOTM), Scott Woodcock, Simon Cox and Matty Gibbard. Five minutes from the break a second goal came from Wellesbourne followed almost immediately with one back from Ajax – a strong, confident strike from Scott Woodcock.
The second half saw a number of great saves from Josh Merritt in goal and more shots from Matty Gibbard. However, the team struggled to get the ball through to the forwards today and despite strong defending and encouragement from Captain Brandon Smith conceded a third. Well done to the 3 newly signed players – Rory O’Brien in defence and Matty Gibbard & Brandon Britton up front. The season is off to a flying start!

Bilton Ajax U/11’s 2 v 0 St Peters Celtic
The under 11’s were in superior form today with a decisive win against their old rivals St Peters Celtic.
Bilton dominated both halves and the score line could have been much higher. The team fought hard for every ball, winning most and showing excellent teamwork with fluent and thoughtful passing.
Matthew Gibbard and Rhys Warren (MOTM) scored two great goals with Simon Cox and Brandon Britton also showing pace and attack at the front. Stuart Clarke had another excellent match displaying his tenacious tackling skills. Danny Harbord, Brandon Smith and Rory O’Brien repelled every attack fromSt Peters. On the wings, Scott Woodcock, Tom Oglethorpe and Josh Ireson ran the line with pace. Danny Downes contributed well in the second half and Josh Merrit in goal had to be encouraged to keep warm!

Mid-Warwicks League Cup Sunday 7th October
Bilton Ajax 2 v 3 Southam Utd Vipers
The under 11’s crashed out of the Cup today following a controversial last moment decision which disallowed their equalising goal
Southam largely controlled the first half of the game punishing hard Bilton’s mistakes and leading by 2 goals to nil at half time. There were some flashes of brilliance from Bilton including a Brandon Britton strike in the closing moments of the first half which hit the post.
A stern team talk saw some better play as the second half began, but then a goalkeeping error gave Southam a third after 20 minutes. At this point, Bilton seemed to go up several gears and a stream of attacking play bought goals from Matthew Gibbard and Brandon Britton.
Well done to the team on a great come-back – all eyes are now focused on winning the league. MOTM was Brandon Smith.
Under 11’s 14th October 2007 Mid Warks League
Bilton Ajax 1 v 8 Tazmanian Cruisers
The under 11’s ran in trouble today losing heavily away to the Tasmanian Cruisers.
The first half was fairly evenly matched with a confident start and good positioning on the pitch. There was fluent teamwork between the forwards Brandon Britton and Matthew Gibbard, a shot on goal from Tom Oglethorpe and strong defending from Brandon Smith, Daniel Harbord, Ruairi O’Brien and Stuart Clarke. However 4 minutes from the break, the team unexpectedly conceded a goal which was quickly followed by a second.
For the second half, despite various substitutions and encouragement, the team struggled to find their confidence and fluency. Brandon Britton did manage to pull one back but the TC goals kept on coming.
Not the team’s finest hour but the focus is now on next week and a chance to put things right against another TC team!

Bilton Ajax 5 v 2 Tasmanian Cruisers
The team were back on form today with an emphatic win back at the Tasmanian Cruisers ground.
Some excellent goals came from Danny Downes, Matthew Gibbard, Brandon Britton, Simon Cox and Scott Woodcock. However, it was a team performance today with every player displaying skill, motivation and a determination to win from the start.
Josh Merritt and the defenders kept control at the back and and Josh Ireson, Danny Downes and Scott Woodcock ran the wings with speed and strength. Daniel Harbord was today’s MOTM. Well done to everyone!

Bilton Ajax u11’s 3 v 5 Alcester
The team played well today but didn’t quite manage to land the ‘killer blow’s they needed against a well organised and attacking Alcester.
Danny Downes stood in as substitute goalie and did well under a lot of first half pressure. Daniel ‘Peter Crouch’ Harbord used his height and strength again at the back along with Brandon Smith, Stuart Clarke and Josh Ireson.
The half time team talk reminded the lads that the game was ‘theirs for the taking’ and an early goal from Matthew Gibbard signalled a fight back in the second half. Brandon Smith scored a confident second and a superb run and finish brought a third from Matthew (MOTM).
Bilton are cutting their teeth against some very good first division teams – keep going lads!

Hillmorton 0 - 5 Bilton Ajax
This was by far Bilton’s best all round performance this year, with 60 minutes of guts and determination. The back line stood up under Brandon Smith’s lead and never let Hillmorton break through earning Josh Merritt a deserved 2nd clean sheet this season.
Rhys Warren tussled in mid-field and Simon Cox showed his class to open the score for Bilton Ajax. 2 up at half time and Ajax looked in command. But the team came out and gave a great display with fine runs from Scott Woodcock, Denis Page and Daniel Harbord. Danny Downes was providing telling through balls to the forwards from midfield which allowed MOTM Matty Gibbard a hatrick and Brandon Britton the most popular and deserved goal of the day against his old team. Stuart Clarke also showed his strength today.
Well done Ajax, we are getting better and better!

Crick U11’s 1 – 12 Bilton Ajax U11’s
A great Bilton effort resulted in a dozen that warmed onlookers in sub-arctic conditions. Ajax were slow to start but manager Jono made some early strategic changes and they never looked back. Brandon Britton bagged all 3 goals by half time, and a further 3 in the 2nd made him a deserved MOTM.
Matty Gibbard collected 5 goals today, one of which was as cheeky as they come and finally Simon Cox re-joined the game up-front and skilfully lobbed the goalkeeper.
All players deserved a mention today with everyone playing for each other but special mentions go to Josh Merritt who braved the icy conditions in goal. Rhys Warren, Denis Page, Danny Downes, Elliot Twining, Tom Oglethorpe and Scott Woodcock all gave it everything. Brandon Smith, Daniel Harbord, Ruairi O’Brien and Stuart Clarke were solid in defence again. Well done

Bilton Ajax u11’s 2 v 1 Woodloes
Well done to the team today on another good performance and a convincing win.
Ajax had the majority of possession in the first half with Matthew Gibbard scoring the first goal – an excellent run followed by a 25 yard strike. At the other end, Josh Merritt in goal kept his nerve under moments of pressure, making several fine saves.
Ajax were noticeably confident in the air with some excellent headers from Stuart Clarke, Brandon Smith and Daniel Harbord. The forwards looked dangerous this week with Brandon Britton (who scored the second), Simon Cox, Matthew Gibbard and Denis Page breaking fast and passing fluently.
Stuart Clarke hit the crossbar nearly scoring the goal of the season. Some great runs on the wings from Scott Woodcock, Tom Oglethorpe and Josh Ireson
Well done to everyone, MOTM was Brandon Smith.

Bilton Ajax u11’s 4 v 5 Wellesborne Wanderers
It was a thrilling match this afternoon with a great team performance from the lads.
Goals came from Brandon Britton, Matthew Gibbard (2) and Simon Cox with excellent unselfish passing between all the forwards. As soon as the ball was played forward there were exciting fast breaks and a real sense that anything was possible.
Danny Downes stood in as substitute goalie making some brave saves in a fast paced, high scoring match. Through strong winds, asthma attacks and foot and knee injuries the team played on and very nearly clinched an equaliser in the closing moments with a long curving strike from Matthew Gibbard hitting the post.
Well done to everyone and the coaches who are slowly but surely moulding a team to be reckoned with!

Bilton Ajax u11’s 1 v 7 Tasmanian Cruisers
The team lost heavily at home today in a bitterly cold and difficult game against their old adversaries.
The first half was fairly evenly matched with some fast breaks and several shots on goal. Tom Oglethorpe scored the first goal of the match after some fluent interplay with Matthew Gibbard. Simon Cox was just wide in another confident strike. However, the TC’s were playing a strong and competitive game and gradually won the upper hand with a score-line of 3-1 at half time.
Despite a stern team talk at the break, the TC’s dominated the second half with confidence dipping as the goals mounted.
In spite of the score line, Josh Merritt made some excellent saves in goal - it was sadly, his last appearance for the team and he will be missed very much. MOTM this week was Josh Ireson.
Next week – the only way is up….

Bilton Ajax 1 v 2 Alveston
The team were in excellent form today but narrowly lost to League leaders Alveston.
The game began with at a fast attacking pace with Ajax winning the majority of possession throughout the first half. Daniel Harbord intercepted a certain goal resulting in Alveston hitting the post and at the other end, Matthew Gibbard managed some excellent runs and shots on goal. However, the game was still goal-less at half time.
The second half continued an exciting game to watch. With 10 minutes to go Alveston scored the first from a corner only to be followed minutes later with Simon Cox equalising from a long lofty pass forward from Ruairi O’Brien. Sadly, with 2 or 3 minutes to go Alveston scored the winner.
Stuart Clarke (MOTM) got a special mention at the end for his consistent performance and tireless effort. Well done to the lads on a very good start to the New Year.

Bilton Ajax 3 - 3 Hillmorton
A local derby filled with guts and determination from both sides in difficult conditions. MOTM1 Brandon Smith led the back line and tried to push play forward at every opportunity. Debutant goalie Robert Sandercock showed great skill under pressure, especially in the 2nd half whilst MOTM2, Brandon Britton enjoyed a hatrick of goals at the other end.
Bilton worked extremely hard down both flanks, through Rauari O’Brien, Josh Ireson, Stuart Clark and Tom Oglethorpe. Matty Gibbard took the ball through from midfield into the penalty area on several occasions and also linked well with Simon Cox. Daniel Harbord and Denis Page tried to keep Hillmorton at bay in the Centre of play.
Scott Woodcock, Elliot Twining and Danny Downes all joined play to maintain a fair 3-3 draw at the full time whistle. Today saw some fantastic link up play and the team continues to improve its performance.

Bilton Ajax 3 v 8 St Peters Celtic
This proved to be a difficult, uphill game with Bilton in the end losing heavily.
Some team absences meant a different formation was needed including Tom Oglethorpe (MOTM) covering goal and Josh Ireson moving to midfield. Tom made numerous brave saves and was commended by the coaches for displaying a great spirit.
Bilton actually had the majority of possession in the first half but a small number of fast and highly effective breaks by St Peters had the team down 4-0 at half time. There were some sparks of the team’s usual form in the second half with goals from Brandon Britton and Matthew Gibbard but overall they struggled to deal with St Peters’ through balls and the goals just kept coming.
The game was overshadowed by the lack of an independent referee and a number of controversial decisions added to the drama!
Stretton Athletic 1 - 6 Bilton Ajax in U11's Supplementary Cup
Ajax ran out on Sunday with exactly the right attitude for this cup game against a hearty Stretton side. The game was played in fantastic spirit with both teams competing fairly for a game against Celtic St Peters.
Daniel Harbord led the back three with Robert Sandercock putting in another commanding appearance in goal. Brandon Smith worked tirelessly in the centre of the pitch and never missed a clearing header all game feeding Denis Page and Matty Gibbard (MOTM1) who netted with cool finish. Stuart Clarke (MOTM2) played like a man with a mission pushing the team forward at every opportunity down the left. Simon Cox (scorer of 2) and Brandon Britton (scorer of a hatrick) played well together up front. Rhys Warren, Josh Ireson and Tom Oglethorpe all shone down the right side of play, whilst the team was bolstered up by substitutes Danny Downes and Scott Woodcock in the 2nd half.

‘Under 11’s through to the semis!’
It was an absolute cliff-hanger today as the team battled through extra time to win in sudden death penalties! The match was highly competitive but very sporting with both teams giving 100% in a determined effort to win a place in the Supplementary Cup semi-finals.
MOTM was goalie Robert Sanderlock who saved at least 3 certain goals and then went on to save confidently save 2 penalties. Simon Cox & Matthew Gibbard both put away decisive goals during the shoot out and then Brandon Smith (Captain) stepped up to fire in the winning goal
An excellent team performance from all the lads today and a thoroughly deserved win!

Bilton Ajax 1 - 3 Fenny Compton
Ajax ran out on Sunday with only eleven players for the 2nd week running. Both teams played a competitive game, but luck was not on Bilton's side today. Matty Gibbard slotted home to equalise in the first half and then the second half brought near miss after near miss. Stuart Clarke nearly scored from a fantastic long range volley, Daniel Harbord saw a shot headed off the line and Brandon Smith saw his header cleared to sefety as well. Brandon Britton and Elliott Twining worked hard to break the defence from the left whilst Denis Page gave it everything once again down the right, giving good service to Simon Cox up front.
At the other debutant goalie Luke Norman stamped his mark with a well deserved MOTM. Rhys Warren and Ruairi O'Brien soaked up a great deal of pressure in front of goal too.
A quicker start and some extra luck up front will be needed next week to get back to winning ways! Keep the faith lads!

Bilton Ajax 1 - 3 Fenny Compton
It was a hugely frustrating match today with Bilton having most of the possession and attacking play but just not managing to clinch the goals.
FC took the lead after 5 minutes with Bilton nearly equalizing minutes later with a penalty only to hit the cross bar. The forwards kept up some great attacking play which was rewarded after 14 minutes with a goal from Matthew Gibbard. Brandon Britton hit the cross bar again and very nearly scored from a long looping shot over the goalie.
Bilton again dominated the second half with fluent play and more shots on goal. There was a robust defence from Daniel Harbord, Ruairi O’Brien and Stuart Clarke. Elliot Twining had his best match yet and Rhys Warren with Brandon Smith proved solid in midfield.
The team are now focused on next weeks Cup semi final, again away to Fenny Compton!

Bilton Ajax 1 - 6 Fenny Compton
The team struggled today in the Cup semi-finals, in the end losing quite heavily to Fenny Compton.
The lads worked hard through the first half in some fast and closely fought play, with Matthew Gibbard getting the first shot on goal, Brandon Britton hitting the bar and some brave defending at the back from Ruari O’Brien.
However, though we were only one down at half time, Fenny Compton dominated the second half and it became increasingly difficult to turn the match around.
Very disappointing for the lads not to be in the final but they’ve done well to get this far and they continue to show great promise for next season!

Southam United Vipers 0 - 3 Bilton Ajax
The U11’s finally got their just desert with 2 straight victories. On Wednesday the team battled beating Southam away with 3 great goals from Brandon Britton (2) and Matty Gibbard. All players were determined after a string of unlucky results saw the team misrepresented in the league, but Rhys Warren(MOTM) led the team to victory with his strongest game this season.

Bilton Ajax 10 - 2 Crick Colts
Then on Sunday the team took on Crick at home, following on with a powerful performance that brought in 10 goals against Crick’s 2. Goals came from Brandon Britton (MOTM1) (5), Matty Gibbard (2),Danny Downes (1), Josh Ireson (MOTM2) and Denis Page, the latter 2 goals marking each player’s 1st strike of the season. These results are a great reward for a team that has kept the faith and stuck to the task, having the conviction to change style and make its mark through skill and endeavour. Good luck for the final game against Southam!

Bilton Ajax 2 v 6 Southam
This was the last match of the season for the under 11’s and some defensive errors and difficulties dealing with Southam’s through balls cost the lads dearly today.
However, there were many bright points from the match: an early goal from Brandon Smith in a new forward role, a vigorous performance from Ruari O’Brien at right back and Simon Cox coolly placing a second goal thru the goalie’s legs. The higher standard of passing and teamwork we’ve seen recently continued today.
MOTM was Josh Ireson again for his dogged performance on the right wing.
Overall a good first season in Division One – we reached the semi finals of the Cup and finished mid way in the league!

Ajax started the game very slowly and found themselves 2-0 down. As the game progressed Ajax started to compete. Chances fell to Lunn and Clay who both chased everything. Clay hit a superb effort from 25 yards out, but hit the inside of the post, ran along the line and was cleared. 2-0 down at half time but should have been all square.
Second half saw Ajax dominating. Ree’s Hawes out pacing the home defence on numerous occasions. Josh Wookey crashed a shot from distance just over the bar and Andrew Ward’s shot drifted wide with the keeper beaten.
Ajax’s defence looked good with Todd Williams in control. It was Ali Walker who chased what looked like a lost cause from the goal line, for James Lunn to head home. Chances fell to Maguire who looked certain to score but stumbled at the last moment.
George Clay got a deserved goal to make it 2-2. With 2 minutes to go Stratford had a free kick just outside the 18 yard box and smashed it home 2-3.
Ajax replied and the Stratford keeper failed to collect a cross. Ajax look certain to equalise but the referee blew for a foul! Stratford then broke to make it 2-4.
Ajax did not deserved to loose as they were the better team, but must be more ruthless in front of goal.
Under 12’s 14th October 2007 Mid Warks League
Bilton Ajax 3 v 1 Kenilworth Town
Ajax once again dominated this game as the boys played some great football. After more Ajax pressure they won a corner and Todd Williams whipped in a superb cross which Kenilworth failed to clear and George Golby made it 1-0 Ajax. Ajax must of had at least ten goal scoring opportunities but no one could find the back of the net. Kenilworth had one chance in the first half but failed to take it.
The second half was the same story with Ajax failing to take there chances, and sure enough kenilworth made them pay 1-1.With 15Min's to go Scott Zeall then made an immediate reply a great solo run and a cool finish 2-1. Ajax pressed again and from close range Alex Maguire made it 3-1.
Ajax must learn to be more clinical in front of the goal and finish teams off when on top, well played everyone.
Saturday 20th October 2007 Mid Warks League
Admirals Green 3 v 2 Bilton Ajax
After the cup victory against Admirals two weeks ago, Bilton stood every chance on repeating their success but only this time away from home.
Saturdays match started with an even battle with nothing between them, Bilton played the first half into the low sunshine and defended well but then close to half time a penalty was awarded against them, fortunately the ball was put over the bar and at the break there was no score.
Just like last week Bilton seemed to struggle to find their second half momentum and they were severely punished for it. Three silly goals were conceded in minutes and the game seemed lost but Bilton were not buried yet. The last ten saw an onslaught of attacks against the Admirals with Blair Girvin scoring twice but the third just didn’t come. Bilton again tasted defeat and the frustration of knowing they can play better.
Mid Warwickshire Boys League U12’s
Lawford United 2 – 2 Bilton Ajax
A lethargic performance, even after half term holiday, saw both teams equally matched at Lawford. United took the lead on six minutes after the Ajax defenders were caught napping, and it wasn't until eleven minutes later that a powerful long range shot from Wookey took everyone by surprise , including the Lawford keeper.
Ajax missed a superb chance to take the lead, just coming up to halftime, with a header from Ward which was well turned out by the keeper.
At the beginning of the second half Wookey tried his luck again with another twenty yarder to no avail. The second half continued with United piling on the attacks, and though the Ajax defence were capable, if not pretty they eventually subsided under the pressure.
Ajax's Captain, Williams, made repeated moves towards the Lawford goal and was justly rewarded with a last minute cracking equaliser from the edge of the box.

Balsall & Berkswell Colts U12 4 - 1 Bilton Ajax U 12
A game with two teams of similar ability, but Colts showing more grit and determination than Ajax. From the beginning Zeall made some probing runs up the right wing and was unlucky to score with a seventh minute shot being well saved.
After twenty minutes Colts scored from a goal mouth scramble following a corner, and just four minutes later a defensive mix up between goalkeeper and captain let Colts score again.
The first ten minutes of the second half saw Ajax overwhelm the Colts, but without reward. This was followed by another Colts breakaway resulting in goal number three. A miss-timed Ajax tackle five minutes later took the score to 4-0 from the penalty spot.
Williams scored a consolation goal, again in the dying seconds, directly from an in swinging corner. Some doubtful refereeing decisions, and bad luck, do not really justify the 4-1 score line.
Sunday 18th November
Bilton Ajax U12’s 2 – 3 Emscote Colts
A good performance by both teams, despite the atrocious weather at Alwyn Road.
Ajax took the game to Emscote right from the start and deserved to take the lead with a goal from Clay after ten minutes.
Colts, against the run of play, scored the equaliser four minutes later and then just before half time Ajax went into the lead from a corner which Colts managed to put into their own net.
After the break, yet another defensive mix up left Emscote an easy tap in to make it 2-2.
The game was then fought out evenly in midfield with both sides not really putting their opposing keepers under much pressure. However on a penultimate minute breakaway Emscote scored the winner.
Ajax showed some good footballing ability and teamwork, with every player putting in an encouraging performance, and, if an 'over the line' goal had been given Ajax could have been rightly rewarded for their efforts.

Woodloes Colts. U12. 1-3 Bilton Ajax U12
A well deserved win for Ajax ,after a good all round effort from every member of the squad, at a windswept pitch at Warwick.
Woodloes took the lead from an easy tap in ,following a dubious free kick decision on the edge of the box ,after eighteen minutes of play and failed to double their score just before halftime with a badly taken penalty , which was hotly disputed by supporters and manager alike.
The second half saw a change of referee and the fortunes of Ajax who came out determined to take control. Once again Wookey showed his shooting prowess with a low hard volley four minutes in and the constant attacks paid off again nineteen minutes later after a great through ball was easily volleyed passed the keeper by Clay.
Woodloes broke through the Ajax defence on a few occasions in the second half but the back four and especially Abbot in goal proved up to the job.
Lunn made sure with Ajax's third goal two minutes from time.
A more clinical attitude in front of goal would no doubt bring better results for Ajax, but on today's performance the future looks promising. Well done to everybody.

Bilton Ajax 0 - 6 Norton Lindsey
A cup game between two teams from different leagues that will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. Norton walked through the Ajax defence straight from kick-off to take an early lead, and took another twenty six minutes to go two nil up. Norton’s' ability to finish in front of goal sadly lacking.
The second half once again started with Norton walking straight through Ajax, twice in just over a minute.
Ajax’s' consolation goal was flagged offside by Norton's linesman, a blatantly wrong decision which was not overruled by the referee. Norton scored twice more to finish the game 6-0.
Volunteer linesmen are of no use to either team, or the referee, if they cannot interpret the offside laws, a frequent problem witnessed virtually every Sunday.
It is also very sad to see Parents of players verbally abusing volunteer third officials, what sort of example does this set to impressionable youngsters?

Snitterfield Colts 1 - 8 Bilton Ajax
This was teamwork at its best. A shining example of skill and commitment.
Ajax took control from the start but had to wait fifteen minutes before Lunn's shot from the left was deflected by Snitterfields' keeper into his own net. Consistent attacks from Ajax resulted in Zeall scoring two before halftime, his second one a great individual run finishing with a cheeky chip over the keeper.
Two minutes into the second half Hawes made one of many great runs down the left hand side to finish cleanly. Four minutes later he had the height and ability to nod the ball in from a corner. Zeall deservedly got his hatrick and Lunn scored his second.
Snittersfield, to their credit, battled on and scored a consolation goal, and finally Williams produced a typical last minute in swinging corner which was beautifully headed by a Snittersfield defender past his own luckless keeper.

Bilton Ajax 5-1 Lawford United
Ajax started the New Year with the same grit and determination as seen at their last game of 2007.
After only two minutes Golby picked up a rebound from an Ajax free kick and calmly slotted past the Lawford keeper, this was followed three minutes later with a great shot from Hawes to give Ajax a two nil lead.
Ajax kept up the pressure until the half time whistle but without any more goals to add to their tally.
Six minutes into the second half saw Zeall , on one of his many fine runs, connect with a great through ball to slip it past a helpless keeper, and Wookey convert a penalty after Maguire was brought down in the box.
Lawford scored a consolation goal and Zeall was again the right man in the right place to tap in after a goal mouth scramble.
Simple football and good teamwork wins every time.

Emscote Colts 2 – 1 Bilton Ajax
Once again Ajax conceded three points to a Colts team despite having most of the play for most of the match.
The first half, at a blustery Harbury Lane pitch, saw Colts take the lead after ten minutes, and although Ajax had a few chances to equalise no one seemed to have the killer instinct to put the ball in the net.
Ajax’s problems were compounded just before half time when Colts scored a second goal.
The first fifteen minutes of the second half saw a dour battle fought out in midfield, then suddenly Ajax kicked into gear and the match came to life.
A corner from Wookey, with fifteen minutes to go, saw Hawes tap the ball past a myriad of defenders and despite many penalty area scrambles, and a disallowed header from Zeall, Ajax came away with nothing but their dignity.

Bilton Ajax 2 – 2 Kenilworth Wardens
The pitch at Alwyn Road, despite recent heavy rain and earlier matches, stood up well to the end-to-end battle that took place between two fairly equal teams.
Ajax attacked straight from kick off, and Zeall was the victim of a couple of crude tackles, the second of which resulted in a sixth minute penalty ably taken by Wookey.
Kenilworth then took the game to Ajax, and after sustained pressure took a deserved equaliser on twenty minutes.
The second half started well with Zeall confidently ‘walking ‘ past a couple of defenders to calmly slot in Ajax’s second goal, and then play carried on down at the Bilton goal end for the next fifteen minutes.
Praise must go to Abbot in goal, who, despite having suffered a pre-match warm up injury to his face, kept out a relentless barrage of attempts with some brave saves.
Two misses in front of goal from Hawes and Lunn could have settled the final result, but in reality Kenilworth deserved a draw with an equaliser eight minutes from time.
Commendations also to the referee for a very fair game.

Bilton Ajax U 12’s 1 - 4 Snitterfield Colts
A poor, though brave, display from an Ajax side whose numbers were depleted by absence and injury.
With only the starting eleven, and no subs available, Bilton came under attack straight from the start and did well to keep the score down to 0-1 at half time.
Both Lunn and Hawes suffered painful injuries in the first half, even so, Lunn equalised in the second minute of the second half.
Snitterfield piled on the pressure, looking to avenge the previous meetings defeat of 7-1, and they managed to score another three goals in a ten minute spell that left Ajax with no answers.
Only consolation for Ajax players, management and spectators was it didn’t rain !

Kenilworth Wardens 4 - 4 Bilton Ajax U12’s
A great game was played by both teams at a sunny Wardens ground. And the score justifies the amount of effort and sportsmanship shown by all players.
Bilton started, after a two week layoff, with just a bare eleven players again, injuries and absences throwing reserve keeper Maguire between the sticks and new signing Coyle straight into the thick of things.
And what a debut. Three minutes in Coyle took his chance and opened with a great goal, only for Wardens to equalise two minutes later. The game went from end to end with Bilton really playing as a team, slick passing and everyone moving into spaces. Williams then put Bilton ahead only for Wardens to equalise coming up to halftime.
It was again Kenilworth who took the lead two minutes into the second half, while a neat goal from Lunne made it all square four minutes later. Ten minutes from time Kenilworth looked to have scored the winner, and despite numerous attacks Bilton seemed destined not to score until Ajax’s' secret weapon , a Williams in swinging corner, once again left everyone watching the ball curve straight into the back of the net.
A well deserved point and a credit to teams, managers and referee.

Kenilworth Town 0 - 4 Bilton Ajax
For the second consecutive week Ajax travelled to Kenilworth and scored four great goals,this time against a Kenilworth Town team that showed little sign of penetrating a strong and capable Ajax midfield and defence.
It took fifteen minutes before Zeall slipped the ball in from a Golby corner, and ten minutes later Ward was in the right place to slam in a goal from a typical and trademark Williams inswinging corner , that the Kenilworth keeper failed to hold properly.
The second half started well for Ajax, but despite numerous attacking forays,the Bilton boys couldn't find the back of Kenilworths' net. Then after twenty minutes Coyle made an individual run past countless defenders to slip the ball past a bewildered keeper. And to finish off a great game Coyle did exactly the same ten minutes later.
Once again a great team effort from every member of the squad.

Stratford Phoenix u12’s 2 – 7 Bilton Ajax
Yet another fine away performance from a group of players all eager to perform for a total team effort.
Wookey opened the scoreline after six minutes with a cracking shot which was deflected past the Phoenix keeper and Ajax continued to pile on the pressure, resulting in Walker dribbling past a host of defenders to calmly slot the ball into the net.
Two minutes later, on the fourteenth minute, Wookey once again chipped a goal over a helpless Stratford keeper to make it three nil.
Stratford replied with a dubious goal from a ball that came off the inside of the post, only to be caught by Maguire in goal, however the linesman deemed it to have crossed the line, a decision upheld by the referee.
Just nine minutes into the second half saw Zeall, on one of his many probing runs, brought down clinically in the box; however Wookey failed to get his hatrick by shooting the spot kick wide of the mark.
Phoenix took advantage of a mix up between second half keeper Abbot and the Ajax defence to take an easy tap in, and it looked if Stratford were making a comeback but the Bilton boys stepped it up a gear with a veritable goal fest in the last six minutes.
Coyle scored with a powerful shot from the right wing on the twenty-fifth minute, quickly followed from the restart by a well taken goal by Lunne. With three minutes to go, Williams spotted the Phoenix keeper out of position and lobbed one in from twenty yards. And finally, Zeall got his reward, with a well deserved goal, a minute from time.
It just gets better and better!

Bilton Ajax 1 - 2 Lillington Rangers
An ill tempered game, played at a surprisingly good condition Alwyn Road pitch despite the previous days heavy rain.
Ajax dominated most of the first twenty minutes, and managed to overwhelm the Rangers defence, but could not put it past their keeper, who, on a number of occasions during the entire match, was the only thing preventing Ajax from scoring a shedfull of goals.
But it was Lillington who, on a surprise attack, managed to score the first after twenty three minutes.
This was followed six minutes later by goal number two, after Ajax keeper Maguire miss-kicked a clearance straight to a Lillington forward.
The second half was only nine minutes old, when Coyle made an individual run from a quick Wookey throw in, and beat everyone including the keeper.
The game then went from end to end, with both keepers putting up fine performances, but Bilton could not find the killer instinct in front of goal, despite numerous chances.
The games atmosphere was not helped by a constant barrage of intimidating comments and ' words of advice' from the Lillington manager towards a very fair referee. Something which is no doubt copied by impressionable youngsters on a Sunday afternoon, and which the game, at grass roots level, could well do without.

Bilton Ajax 0 - 8 Balsall & Berkswell
The scoreline really tells the whole story of this penultimate game of Ajax’s season.
A two week layoff from competitive football could be an excuse for such an indifferent performance, but some of the Bilton players were on the pitch in body only and definitely not in mind.
Balsall took the lead after only three minutes, and by the twenty forth minute had scored four, Bilton in all that time had only one shot towards the Balsall goal.
A total lack of tackling ,passing and teamwork by Bilton allowed Hornets to score another four in the second half, albeit one an own goal.
It was a relief when the referee blew the final whistle to put an end to Bilton’s misery.

Bilton Ajax juniors 4 v 4 Southam
Juniors took on SOUTHAM and gave them a bit of a battle! With the pitch being bigger tham last year Ajax were able to move the ball about. And was particularly narrow, Good close defending was a highlight; which the squad had worked hard on. Striker Rob Barnett who made several charging runs which resulted in a reward for him and his team when he stuck into the corner of the Southam goal. Fellow striker Zach George then dominated the Southam defence by hitting them hard with 2 great strikes. 3-0
. The fear was that juniors would fade in the second half as has happened so often last season, and 2 quick Southam goals at the end of the first half by Southam proved this. In the second half juniors worked hard and attacked relentlessly but couldn’t break through, a third goal for Southam made it 3-3. Once again Bilton responded and Adam Poole showed determination to bundle in a 4 goal 4-3. Then dramatically a disputed free kick was given against Ajax on the edge of the penalty area and Southam smashed it in !! Final result 4-4. Overall it was a exiting game for the fans!! The whole team worked hard, but the midfield play of the midfield 4 showed determination to win the game, centre forward Zach George was justly named as man of this match. Well done Zach!!!

Sunday 16 September Bilton Ajax juniors 3 v 1 Snittersfield
A Tale of Good Football
Juniors took on Snittersfield and gave them a bit of a football lesson! With the pitch being bigger than last year Ajax was able to move the ball about. Good close defending was a highlight; which the squad has worked hard on. Strikers Rob Barnett and Zach George made several charging runs from quality through balls from midfielders Dan James and Connor George and the team were rewarded when Zach scored the 1st of his 3 goals. The football flowed and striker Zach George then dominated the Snittersfield defence by hitting them hard with 2 more great strikes. 3-0 (HATRICK) that’s 5 in 2 games for Zach.

Bilton Ajax took on league leaders Whitnash and nearly pulled off an exiting win. Ajax started with real intent to win the game. After 10 minutes it was obvious that Ajax were playing the real football, interpassing and fast breaks resulted in early chances and when striker Zach George“skilled up” the Whitnash defender he was brought down and a penalty give. Midfielder Peter Jones smashed the spot kick against the bar and Whitnash survived. Good close defending was a highlight; which the squad has worked hard on. Striker Rob Barnett turned emergency centre half and kept Whitnash at bay. Goalkeeper Tommy Jennings commanded his area and the back four stayed solid all game. A lone Whitnash goal against the run of play was the only flaw in what was a tremendous performance. Last week I said that sometimes coaches just want league points but really it is performances that make me happy, well this week league points were gratefully excepted !!!! Bilton Ajax took on Kenilworth and pulled off an exiting win. Ajax started with real intent to win the game. After 10 minutes it was obvious that Ajax were playing the real football, interpassing and fast breaks resulted in early chances and with Peter Jones scorching down the right flank chance after chance was missed. Goalkeeper Tommy Jennings commanded his area and made a tremendous save to keep Ajax in the game. Connor George finished a great move off to make it 1-0 In the second half Bilton worked hard and attacked relentlessly but were caught on the break 1-1 a cool finish from Jamie ensured the points Final result 2-1 Overall The whole team worked hard, but the defensive play of man of the match Ben Lewis showed skill and determination to try to win the game. A strong and determined performance gave Ajax their 5th win in a row. Bilton Ajax took on a physically strong Snittersfield and pulled off an exiting win. Ajax started with real intent to win the game. After 10 minutes it was obvious that Ajax were playing the real football, interpassing and fast breaks resulted in early chances and striker Zach George scored his 11th goal of the season. 1-0 at half time. Good close defending was a highlight. strongman Rob Barnett turned emergency centre half and kept Snittersfield at bay. Goalkeeper Tommy Jennings commanded his area and produced 2 stunning saves that inspired the back four who stayed solid all game. In the second half Bilton worked hard and attacked relentlessly with tremendous goals scored by Connor George and Will Mansfield , this was a game that hard work gave its just rewards, with Jonny Townsend producing great skill and passing. The team survived several strong challenges and skill won the day. Final result 3-1, Overall it was an exiting game for the fans!! Bilton Ajax took on Wellsbourne and pulled off an exiting win. Ajax started with real intent to win the game. With midfielders Dan James and Connor George spreading the ball around Ajax attacked relentlessly. Pace man Rob Barnett turned emergency centre half and kept Wellsbourne at bay, James Roberts and Jordan Morris kept tight tabs on the Wellsbourne forwards. Forwards Jamie and Zach ran the Wellsbourne defence ragged and only some hefty challenges stopped them. After suffering several wild challenges striker Zach George finally reacted when he was punched in the face, after delivering his own right hook he was quite rightly sent off. 5 minutes later his brother Conner kicked the ball away in temper and was rightly yellow carded. Peter Jones showed why he can be such a danger with tremendous wing play and superb crosses, In the second half Bilton worked hard and attacked relentlessly, Final result 5-1 TO Ajax goal scorers Peter 2, Jamie 1, Robert 1 and Connor 1. Against the run of play Southam’s lone striker escaped and finished well 1-0 Goalkeeper Tommy Jennings made a superb one on one save to keep his team in the game, the back four stayed solid all game. Paceman Rob Barnett and James Roberts turned back all attacks, Goalkeeper Tommy Jennings commanded his area and the back four stayed solid all game. 1-0 down at half time. In the second half Bilton worked hard but conceded another, 2-0 down with 10 mins to go. Ajax then attacked relentlessly with tremendous goals scored by Adam Poole created by Connor George and Peter Jones, Final result 2-2 Overall it was an exciting game for the fans!! The whole team worked hard, but the attacking play in the last minutes when 2-0 down showed skill and determination to try to win the game. Tommy Jennings was justly named as man of this match for a stunning save late on but really the team was the men of the match. Referee Paul Green who originally put this squad together at age 8 had an emotional day refereeing and enjoyed a good game. Well done AJAX!!!

After 2 minutes it was obvious that Ajax were playing the real football and captain Marvel Dan JAMES smashed a fantastic shot against the Leamington post. Striker Zach George forced a tip over from the Leamington keeper; good close defending was a highlight. Strongmen Rob Barnett, Jordan Morris and James Roberts kept Leamington at bay. The teams weakness of marking at corners struck twice and against the play Leamington took the lead, Goalkeeper Tommy Jennings commanded his area and made only 1 mistake amongst 5 great saves but it cost him, Somehow Ajax were 3-0 down at half time. In the second half Bilton worked hard and attacked relentlessly with near misses by Connor George, Peter Jones, Adam Poole and Dan James, Final result 0-4 Overall it was an exiting but disappointing game for the fans!! Sometimes coaches just want league points but really it is performances that make me happy, and this was one of them!!! Bilton Ajax took on RUNAWAY LEAGUE CHAMPIONS LEAMINGTON and started with real intent to win the game. After 10 minutes it was obvious that Ajax were playing the real football, interpassing and fast breaks resulted in early chances, Ajax really played well but couldn’t take advantage, somehow they were 2-1 down at half time. The goal came from a stunning quick break with Zach George beating 2 players down the flank and crossing beautifully for Captain Dan James to score with a quality strike. In the second half Bilton worked hard but did not produce the goals expected of them. Connor George hit the bar in the second half but Ajax couldn’t convert the chances, Leamington gained confidence and fought back with counter attacks to win 6-1 because Ajax were constantly attacking. Striker Adam Poole almost finished off yet another great attack, defensively the boys worked hard against a physically strong attack, I asked for improvement and I got it, well done boys!!! Now let’s win the matches left to stay in third position!!!

Bilton Ajax took on Snittersfield after a long drive, and on a narrow bumpy sloping pitch started with real intent to win the game. After 10 minutes Ajax had missed 2 good chances but kept pressing forward. Once again Ajax got caught on the counter and failed to clear a cross 0-1, however after good passing Connor George quickly equalised 1-1. Twin strikers Connor and Zach wasted good chances and Snittersfield hustled to make it 1-3 , but Ajax didn’t give up and top scorer Zach struck twice to make it 3-3. Final score 3-3. Overall it was a hard battle but a exiting game for the fans!! The whole team worked hard, Jonnie passed well but with the midfield cramped on the small pitch it was difficult for Dan and James to pass, OVERALL IT WAS A POINT WELL EARNED.

Whitley Juniors 2 v 4 Bilton Ajax Juniors
Ajax started the season with a comfortable victory against a team who finished on the same number of points as them last season.
The visitors started the game explosively with Peake scoring in the first minute from a wide angled shot. They then settled into a pattern of free-flowing, controlled football that they maintained throughout the match. Despite Whitley levelling from a breakaway five minutes after the opening goal, Bilton refused to panic and late goals in the half from Gasson and a header from man of the match Maude, gave them a comfortable cushion at half-time.
Bilton continued to control proceedings in the second half and Gasson made the game safe within the first ten minutes of the restart. Despite a late consolation goal for the home side, Ajax strolled home. On another day, the numerous shots that hit the bar and countless near misses that were unconverted would have given the scoreline the look that this performance deserved. Solid performances from the whole team and excellent debuts from Loydall and Russell made for a great start to the season which, on this display, promises much.

Bilton Ajax Juniors 7 v 0 Finham Lions
A comprehensive victory for Bilton who, once again, managed to play positive, attractive football against gallant but well-beaten opponents. The woodwork had already been rattled and a number of good openings had been wasted before Stevens broke free to open the scoring in the twentieth minute. Jackson managed to control a bouncing ball to slot home for the second and then the same two players doubled their tallies to give Ajax the half-time lead they merited.
The second half was mainly one-way traffic again as Bilton created numerous chances and converted three of them. Gasson, Peake and Stevens for his hat-trick were the players on target but the honours for this performance were shared around. Appleby, with little to do in goal made a fine save when called upon, the back three of Randle, Abbott and man of the match Wright were rarely troubled and Bates worked tirelessly in supporting the front men and tracking back to cover.
Whilst stiffer challenges lay ahead, two matches and six points is the perfect start. Well played lads!

Bilton Ajax Juniors 1 v 3 Mount Nod
Bilton suffered their first defeat of the season but can take a lot of positives from the match. Depleted by injury and absence, Ajax nevertheless took an eighteenth minute lead when good work from Merritt down the flank allowed Jackson to poke home the opener. However, within three minutes Mount Nod were level when a long range effort sneaked in to the corner of the net. The rest of the half was played mainly at the visitors’ end but neither side were able to add to their tally.
The second half started badly for Ajax when a defensive lapse allowed the visitors to take the lead. The game then flowed from end to end, Mount Nod using the blustery conditions to their advantage. A failure by Bilton to deal with a high, bouncing ball gave the visitors a third goal ten minutes from time, a goal from which Ajax were unable to recover.
Man of the match Abbott was outstanding at the back and the whole team gave their all. On another day the result could have been different but, for today, the visitors took the spoils.

Bilton Ajax Juniors 9 v 1 Copsewood Minor
A return to winning form for Bilton Ajax, who easily overcame the Copsewood offside trap to record their best win so far. They started as they meant to go on, Gasson sprinting through to score in the second minute, having already hit the post. It was then a one man show for the rest of the half with Stevens ramming home from a variety of angles to complete a hat-trick. The visitors had given themselves some hope, pulling a goal back to make it 2-1 but it was scant consolation for a half of constant pressure from Ajax.
In the second half it was really a question of how many more. The answer was five, all from different scorers. Peake, Merritt and Stevens again scored three in five minutes before Gasson and Maude finished things off late in the half. This was another good team performance with man of the match Loydall and Wright working well on the left, Jolly, Randall, Russell, Abbott, Bates and Jackson all making good contributions and Appleby coming off his line well when required. The final score Ajax nine, Copsewood one.

Bilton Ajax Juniors 7 v 2 Chapelfield Colts
Ajax carried on the commitment and standard of football from last week with another fine display.
They started well and applied early pressure which reaped its rewards with a Stevens strike on 5 minutes.
The visitors then tried to exert themselves into the game but with Abbott leading a well organised defence thwarted any chance of an early reply.
Great work down the flanks created chances for Gasson, Peake then Maude to add to the tally before half time.
Playing the second half with only ten men Ajax didn’t take time to adjust to the shortage with Maude threading the ball through for Gasson to round the keeper for his second.
Ajax then switched off which allowed the visitors two strikes. Any hope of a comeback was shortlived as MOTM Gasson hit a thunderbolt freekick for his hat trick and Scott Peake rounded off the scoring from a Stevens cross.

Bilton Ajax Juniors 9 v 0 Stratford TownBlues
A five goal salvo from Andrew Gasson was the icing on the cake of another outstanding team performance from Ajax. On a bright, sunny morning, this was the perfect tonic to the hangover from the previous evening’s rugby world cup match (parents not players!) as the quality of the football was maintained from start to finish.
Surprisingly, it was Peake who opened the scoring before Gasson bagged his first two and Jackson chipped in with a fourth before half-time. In between, Appleby had made two important saves in the Bilton goal at crucial times.
The second half was one-way traffic as Bilton constantly switched the focus of attack from one side to another. Peake and Jackson doubled their contributions with Gasson completing a second half hat-trick. Man of the match Wright and Loydall linked consistently to create openings on the left whilst Bates and Maude were always probing for openings. On such a day, the efforts of Jolly, Abbott, Randle, Russell and Stevens should also not go unmentioned. Another comfortable victory and a pleasing clean sheet as well.

SUPER STEVENS HITS SIX
It’s easy to look at this, and other recent Ajax results, and assume that the opposition has been weak. However, this would be to ignore the fact that in all their comfortable victories this season, Ajax have had to fight for the right to be able to play their football. Hard work and skilful play has earned them their success and this game was no different.
Ajax led 5-2 at the break through a Stevens hat-trick, a Gasson penalty and a Peake strike. However, it was in the second half that the home side really broke free. Strangely, it was the same three scorers again; Stevens scoring another hat-trick (six goals in all), Peake completed his hat-trick and Gasson again converted from the spot. Though not on the score sheet, Maude earned himself the man of the match award.
All the squad know that there will be games this season when they have to dig in and fight for everything but each success so far has shown that Ajax will have the ability to do that when it is required.

Sunday 4th November 2007 Bilton Ajax Juniors 0 - 4 Christ the King
Bilton were comprehensively beaten by opponents who bossed the game throughout. Ajax knew that their easy victories of late would count for nothing if they failed to match their opponents’ commitment. However, King won most of the fifty-fifty challenges and their passing and movement was excellent.
It took King thirteen minutes to open the scoring which they doubled shortly before the break. Any chance of an Ajax recovery in the second half was ended with two early goals. From then on the game was closely fought. Bilton kept working and never gave up but the result was never really in doubt.
Lessons should (and will) be learnt from this defeat. A good side does not become bad on the strength of one result and Ajax can take heart from the fact that they have a long, hard season in which to put things right.

Chapelfield Colts Blues 2 v 5 Bilton Ajax Juniors
Ajax were made to work hard for this victory but in the end, the battling qualities which rather deserted them last week, saw them through. The match started evenly until Stevens struck for the visitors after ten minutes. However, Colts replied ten minutes later and then the pattern was repeated, Stevens putting Ajax ahead again but then being pegged back shortly afterwards.
Bilton were probably unlucky to go in at half-time on level terms, having created the greater number of chances, but goals rather than luck are the currency of football. However, in the second half Ajax were to put matters right. Early on Stevens completed his hat-trick but it was not until the final ten minutes when the points were wrapped up through Jackson and Peake. A good, fair contest (Jolly winning the man of the match award) with the better team ultimately coming out on top.

Bilton Ajax Juniors 3 v 7 Rugby Town Juniors
Rugby Town were deserved victors in the local derby between two teams topping their division. In atrocious conditions Bilton struck first when Jackson broke clear to score. However, the rest of the half belonged to the visitors who were level inside ten minutes and then eased two goals ahead.
Enforced changes at half-time meant Ajax had to re-organise and by the time the team got into their rhythm the match was beyond reach. Town added four more in the first twenty minutes of the half and things looked ominous for Bilton. But to their credit they rallied and well taken goals from Gasson and Merritt demonstrated that there was still fight left in them. Man of the match Loydall performed admirably in a makeshift defence and Appleby did all he could to keep the score down.
Town continue their unbeaten run but Ajax are still clinging to their coattails.

Bilton Ajax Juniors 8 v 3 Leamington Hibs
Ajax returned to winning ways with a straightforward victory. The visitors probably started the brighter of the two teams as Ajax tried to bed down in a new formation. However, three goals in a five minute burst, from Gasson, Jackson and Merritt more or less decided matters. Hibs replied quickly before Gasson added a fourth, only for Bilton to be pegged back again to 4-2 at the break.
The second half was a repeat of the first, Ajax looking the more dangerous but Hibs causing problems for the home defence, in which man of the match Bates played a key role. Gasson completed his hat-trick in the first minute and the lead was added to by Peake, an own goal and Maude, with a solitary reply for the visitors.
Not the best performance of the season but a welcome three points to keep Ajax in with a shout at the top.

Leamington Brakes 2 v 5 Bilton Ajax Juniors
This was a game in which both teams played their best football in separate periods of the match. Bilton dominated the first half, producing some excellent moves to baffle the home defence. Peake and Maude rewarded the visitors’ pressure with two goals in a minute midway through the half and then Peake and Stevens repeated the dose later on.
The second half started very differently however. Within a minute, Brakes had scored and then they reduced the arrears even further after fifteen minutes. Man of the match Appleby was called on to sprint off his line a couple of times following this to keep the two goal cushion intact and it was not until five minutes from time, when Stevens scored a fine individual goal, before Ajax could relax.
So, a good way to end the year and a chance for everyone to recharge their batteries for the New Year.

Christ the King 3 - 1 Bilton Ajax Juniors
Ajax started brightly but were gradually penned back as King fought for control. A missed penalty from the home side looked like it might cost them dear but, on the stroke of half-time. a static Bilton defence conceded from a corner kick.
The second half was equally close, with neither side able to make chances count. With fifteen minutes left, a Stevens throw was missed by the home defence and Jackson capitalised. Ajax were back in the game but only for five minutes. A failure to clear a loose ball in the box led to their downfall and a deflected free-kick two minutes from time sealed their fate.
Despite the scoreline, Ajax can be proud of the discipline and commitment they showed. Man of the match Appleby was impeccable with his handling and the revamped defence and midfield quickly grew into their new roles. The wrong result but a creditable performance!

Stratford Town Blues 0 - 5 Bilton Ajax Juniors
Despite having played little football since Christmas, Bilton comfortably took all three points. The visitors started brightly and were ahead within five minutes, Jackson making the most of a deflection that dropped at his feet. Ajax continued to press for the majority of the half but were struggling to find the net until Jackson and Peake hit the back of the net shortly before the break.
The second half was much the same as the home side were constantly forced backwards. Jackson completed his hat-trick shortly after the restart whilst Stevens netted from an acute angle at the midpoint of the half. A few positional changes and some excellent goalkeeping partially stemmed the constant flow of pressure but Bilton ran out worthy winners.
Special mentions for man of the match Russell and the whole of the defence but this was, in essence, a solid all round team performance.

Alvis Juniors 1 - 3 Bilton Ajax
Bilton were made to work hard for their victory against a side that belied their lowly position. The windy conditions and bumpy pitch acted as the “proverbial” leveller with Alvis always quick to close down any space that Ajax created.
When Stevens opened the scoring in the first five minutes it appeared that more might follow quickly. However, Appleby in the Ajax goal was called on a couple of times before Jackson chipped in Bilton’s second a few minutes before the break.
The tie was effectively won when man of the match Stevens scored from a tight angle, ten minutes after the restart. However, Bilton could not totally put the game to bed and Alvis were able to notch a late consolation. So, a game which Ajax were always going to win but in which they could never fully take their foot off the accelerator.

Bilton Ajax 2 -2 Caludon Youth (aet) Ajax win 5 - 3 on Penalties
This really was the late, late show as Bilton showed nerves of steel and a never-say-die attitude that deservedly took them into the quarter-finals.
Twice behind to opponents from a higher division, Ajax played competitive, imaginative football which should have seen them win without the need for penalties. However, with two minutes of normal time left, they trailed 1-0 until Merritt floated in an equaliser from an impossible angle. The match then went into extra time only for the home side to fall immediately behind again. This time they left it even later, Elbayouk heading in with no time left on the clock.
It was now down to who could hold their nerve. Appleby saved Caludon’s first spot-kick (he had already saved one in the first half) after Gasson had opened the Ajax account. Jackson, Stevens, Loydall and Abbott were then calmness personified as they all found the net to secure victory. A fitting end to a tremendous team display.

Coventrians 1 - 1 Bilton Ajax
This was a scrappy affair from start to finish. Neither side was able to come to terms with the surprisingly hard playing surface and chances were few and far between. Appleby was called upon twice during the first half to bail out the visitors whilst a few long range efforts and a disallowed goal were all that Ajax had to show for their efforts.
The second half followed a similar pattern with both sides working hard but producing little. It was two strokes of misfortune that produced the goals. A Stevens shot ricocheted into the Coventrians net off a defenders legs mid-way through the half and five minutes from time a speculative long range shot bounced up and over the Bilton goalkeeper to nestle in the back of the net.
All in all this was a fair result but a game that both sides will probably want to forget fairly quickly.

Under 14s – John Bryan Coventry Minor League Cup Quarter-Final Thursday 10th April
Kenilworth Wardens 7 v 1 Bilton Ajax
After two postponements this tie was finally settled in emphatic fashion by the home side. However, until a controversial second goal, midway through the first half, Bilton had matched and probably bettered their higher league opponents.
Ultimately, the difference between the two sides boiled down to what they did when not in possession. On the ball, Ajax played some attractive football but, when they conceded possession they were unable to cover or react in time to the swift attacks of Wardens. Already a goal down in three minutes, the second goal knocked the stuffing out of the visitors and they succumbed to three further strikes before half-time.
Although the game was lost, Ajax kept fighting in the second period and a spectacular Gasson free-kick was the least they deserved in response to two further Kenilworth efforts. Man of the match Loydall led by example with his hard work and was followed by the rest of the team. However, it’s now back to the league for Bilton.

Bilton Ajax 1 - 0 Coventrians
This close encounter was decided in injury time at the end of the match when Stevens latched onto a through ball and saw his lob bounce into the goal off the underside of the bar. It was a cruel way for the match to be decided but was probably a fair result on the overall balance of play. However, Appleby was called on to make a good save following the goal to secure all three points for Ajax.
Bilton should have seen themselves a couple of goals up at half-time but the final, killer touch was lacking. Man of the match Jolly was a rock in midfield whilst the defence gave little away throughout. The second half was more even and could have gone either way until the late winner.
A return to winning ways for Bilton as they enter a busy end of season run-in.

Mount Nod 2 - 4 Bilton Ajax
A devastating three goal blitz, in the first ten minutes of the match, dealt Ajax’s a blow from which they were unable to recover. The front three of Gasson, Jackson and Stevens continually combined well to allow the latter to net all three for his hat-trick. Maude, Merritt, man of the match Russell and Jolly continued to control the middle of the park until five minutes from the break when Nod rallied to pull one back. However, on the stroke of half-time Stevens added his fourth to restore some comfort.
The defensive unit of Loydall, Abbott and Bates, ably backed up by Appleby, had to soak up a lot of pressure after the restart but a solitary effort was all the home side could muster. This was one of the Bilton’s best performances of the season given the intimidating environment and tough conditions. However, they stood up to the test admirably.

Bilton Ajax 4 - 0 Leamington Brakes
Ajax continued their good, recent run with a comfortable victory. Stevens and Jackson each bagged a brace of goals, Stevens opening the scoring inside four minutes and Jackson adding a second midway through the half. Roles were reversed in the second half, Stevens adding to Jackson’s third inside the first ten minutes.
The Ajax defence, well-marshalled by man of the match Abbott was rarely troubled and, in truth, the scoreline could have been more emphatic. However, a good display and another morale-boosting victory to keep the pressure on the teams above them.

Bilton Ajax 6 - 0 Whitley Juniors
This was a well contested, fairly played contest between two teams who, refreshingly, wanted to play football rather than get involved in anything else.
Two identical halves of football produced three goals in each. Ajax had to wait until almost midway through the half to open the scoring through Stevens. A Jackson header and a Gasson drive made it three by half-time.
Whitley started the second half much stronger and applied most of the pressure. However, the game was won when Peake slotted home, again midway through the half. The symmetry was maintained with Jackson and Gasson adding the final goals.
Man of the match was Bates for a solid all round performance which is a phrase that could be used to describe the team’s display overall.

Leamington Juniors 1 – 4 Bilton Ajax
The conditions made this a difficult game for both teams but it was Ajax who adapted far better to the driving wind and take the three points. Ajax won the toss and chose to kick with the wind for the first half, this pushed Leamington back and an early chance for Biltons' Greg Tress should have opened the Ajax account straight away. Leamington however still tried to play a passing game but were caught high up the pitch and left space for Chris Fell to exploit, running clear of the back four for the first goal after 20 minutes. The second was similar with Fell outpacing the defence on a break and slotting it very neatly past the keeper. Ajax pushed on with the wind and were rewarded again from a hanging corner, powered home by Jack Enefer. Leamington had a couple of chances but keeper Heatley stood strong. The second half was totally different with Ajax needing all hands to the pump to defend as Leamington powered forward. It was a break away goal from Fell again that really decided it though, a swiftly taken free kick from Ben Franklin which Fell took in his stride to take his hat-trick. Leamington scored one back immediately and never gave up,but credit all the Ajax back four for standing firm for against the one way attack for the last twenty and secure a hard fought victory.

Bilton Ajax 5 - 0 Hawkes Mill Colts
A flowing end to end game made this a great contest, but in the end Ajax superiority shone through and they blew away Colts with some terrific pass and move football. The first ten minutes showed that both team were prepared to play open game and after Hawkes Mill spurned a couple of half chances, they were hit on the break with a fast flowing move that let Chris Fell clear to open Ajax's account with a fine strike. Colts were having the majority of the game still and were then made to pay for poor finishing again when left back Rob Mansfield broke forward unchallenged to score the second & put Ajax 2-0 up at half time. The second half however was one way traffic, with Ajax gaining in confidence and playing some great passing moves to cut through Hawkes Mill at will. Jack Enefer made it 3, scoring a good header from a Chris Fell corner; then Fell added his second before Tress wrapped it up with the 5th. Ryan Murch and Ben Franklin also went close and there were chances all round for Ajax for the last ten minutes. Credit to the back four and Keeper Heatley too for keeping a clean sheet and giving a good foundation to go forward.

London Road Lions 2 - 2 Bilton Ajax
A close game as the score suggests but bellow par Ajax were lucky in the end to steal a draw after Lions dominated for long periods. A small pitch spoilt the game but it was Lions who were used to the conditions and used them to full advantage by playing a tight pressing game and won the majority of the ball. The first half created little for either team and predictably went nil-nil at the break. Lions then used there share of possession better and as it progressed Ajax struggled with injuries, and with no subs this was to be a long second half. The pressure saw an inevitable goal to Lions who continued to test the excellent stand in keeper Jack Enefer. Again Lions took the game to Ajax and scored a second on a fast break. The second goal however spring Ajax back to life and with ten minutes to go Ajax were buzzing and winning everything all over the pitch. Lions stood off and played with 11 behind the ball which was a major mistake against Bilton. Fell and Murch dropped to run the midfield, pushing Franklin and Joe Jolly as emergency strikers, and Franklin made the most of his chance to pull it back to 2-1. This was an Ajax show now with Lions running scared and the second followed a good passing move that ended with a fine finish from Shaun Gosling to even it out. Time though had then run out and although it was a snatch for the point at the end, 5 minutes more would surely have seen an Ajax win.
