Bilton Ajax U9’s 0 – 2 Banbury Irish

You only need to look at the Bilton Ajax U9’s stats to realise that the young players have had a baptism of fire in their inaugural season in Mid-Warwickshire Junior League U9 Division 1.

However, despite the results, all of the young men have thoroughly enjoyed themselves and with the dedication of their manager Steve Uranjek and enthusiastic support of their family & friends they have learnt something, and grown stronger, with every match they play.

Following the euphoria of a 7-0 victory (their first ever) last week in a friendly match against a Mid-Warwickshire U9 Division 2 side, the boys faced Banbury Irish at home for the second time this season.

The visitors may well have been expecting another walkover victory as in their first ever encounter, but in fact found themselves facing a formidable coordinated and competent opposition in the young Bilton Ajax side. Both teams battled well and in an enthralling end-to-end first half either team could have scored at any moment. Banbury Irish eventually closed the first half with a 2-goal advantage.

Bilton Ajax kept the Banbury Irish defence fully occupied in the second half and both sides were unlucky not to score. For the first time this season the second half finished goalless and Banbury Irish ran out winners having enjoyed a thrilling game against comparable opposition.

The young Bilton Ajax side can only go from strength to strength and it is only a matter of time now until they convert the good chances they have been creating over the last few games.

Saturday 22nd November 2008

Wellesbourne U9’s 3 – 0 Bilton Ajax

Bilton Ajax needed to prove that last weeks improvement in ability was no fluke, and they did so today with a determined and often gritty performance against a Wellesbourne side that trounced them 8-0 in the League Cup just a few weeks ago.

The young Bilton Ajax side looked a bit shaky in the first-half as they allowed a disciplined Wellesbourne to convert 3 well practiced corner pieces, but beyond these set pieces Wellesbourne struggled to penetrate the increasingly solid Bilton Ajax defence in open play, and Bilton Ajax in return narrowly missed a couple of chances at the Wellesbourne end.

Once again an exciting and enthralling second-half saw a revitalised Bilton Ajax take over the game, and in a half where Wellesbourne never really looked like scoring, Bilton Ajax definitely could have. Lady luck did not shine on the young Bilton Ajax side today as they again proved that their second-half stamina and their increasing awareness of players around them will see goals flowing in the very near future.

Saturday 29th November 2008

Woodford United Juniors 7 – 2 Bilton Ajax

Just as predicted, and right on cue, Bilton Ajax banished their league goal demon to the dressing room by scoring in both halves in their latest Mid-Warwickshire Junior League U9’s Division 1 encounter away to an experienced and organised Woodford United Juniors. To be fair to the young Bilton Ajax players, the final score does not accurately reflect their performance and competitiveness in this game.

A slow start in the first-half saw Woodford walk-in three goals before several counter attacks by Bilton Ajax eventually enabled Ben to find the back of the net to thunderous cheers and applause from the loyal away supporters. Bilton Ajax kept up the pressure only to see Woodford sneak two more break-away goals just before half-time.

In another highly competitive end-to-end second-half solid performances from Scott and Aaron at the back enabled several piercing runs through midfield eventually forcing a wild challenge by the Woodford defence; Liam S slotted the resulting penalty neatly into the back of the net. Two more break-away goals from Woodford finished the game off despite continuing pressure from the Bilton Ajax side on the Woodford defence.

St. Peters Celtic 4 – 0 Bilton Ajax

A disappointing start to 2009 saw the young Bilton Ajax side record their first loss of the New Year. This was not because they didn’t play well, in fact the complete opposite, in that they played very well for most of the game apart from a few lapses in concentration that allowed St. Peters Celtic to find the back of the net, most prolifically in the second-half.

Bilton Ajax once again managed to hold out almost all of the first-half goal-less, and in fact had most of the run of play definitely keeping the St. Peters defence on their toes, until the boys in green sneaked a goal in right on the half-time whistle.

The December bad weather, Christmas break and a general lack of game play was very evident in the second-half, as the young Bilton Ajax team looked tired, and were it not for a formidable performance in goal from skipper Henry the score line could have been remarkably worse.

The St. Peters Celtic manager acknowledged at the end of the match that the only difference between the sides this time around was that they scored 4 goals and we didn’t; a vast improvement from their first game at the beginning of the season.

Bilton Ajax 0 – 7 Woodloes Juniors

Whatever their woes the inexperienced Bilton Ajax side deserve a lot of credit today (as they do every week) for keeping their heads up and remaining competitive against a very well organised and, frankly, much better opposition with Woodloes Juniors visiting for their second encounter of the season.

It was obvious today that the inexperienced Bilton Ajax side need to work on wanting to and winning the 50/50 ball in open play, at the moment they almost invariably allow the opposition to come away with possession of the ball.

The first-half saw Woodloes Juniors score 5 cracking goals and were it not for another solid performance from goalkeeper Henry and some well timed tackles and clearances from the backs and midfielders the score line could again have been much worse.

Following a rousing team talk from Manager Steve at half-time the young Bilton Ajax side put together another much better performance in the second-half as they frustrated Woodloes Juniors to scoring only 2 more goals in the remainder of the game. Tireless running and tackling throughout the match from both Ben and Bradley earned themselves joint man-of-the-match awards.

Bilton Ajax 0 – 8 Whitnash Town

Bilton Ajax had a perfect sunny day to try and redress the balance of a 5-0 defeat by Whitnash Town last week in their second encounter in as many weeks as the league tries to catch-up on lost games over the winter.

Despite a positive first-half start and much more competing for possession of the ball the young Bilton Ajax side struggled to clear the ball in defence again allowing the opposition to scramble in a couple of unnecessary goals. More momentary lapses of concentration saw Whitnash Town tuck away another brace of goals in the lead-up to half-time.

Bilton Ajax threatened much more in the second-half forcing a few errors from the mostly untroubled Whitnash Town defence and were unlucky not to grab a consolation goal or two. Well practiced corner routines were again the downfall of the Bilton Ajax defence in the second-half and despite solid performances from joint men-of-the-match Olly and Liam S, Whitnash ran out easy winners scoring 4 more good goals before the very welcome full-time whistle.

Alveston 7 – 0 Bilton Ajax U9’s

This was probably one of the toughest and yet one of the best performances by the young Bilton Ajax side away to league leaders Alveston. Tactical changes by Manager Steve designed to hold formation and widen the field of play paid dividend as they enjoyed more and better possession of the ball than they have had in previous matches.

To be fair to Alveston they were always going to win, but to be equally fair to Bilton Ajax it was not the walkover that might have been expected in a top vs. bottom of the table clash. Every one of the young Bilton Ajax players gave 100% effort this week and as they are visibly progressing in both skill and confidence they are closing down the opposition more effectively and conceding fewer soft goals than they were at the beginning of the season.

The second-half was one of mixed fortunes for both joint men-of-the-match as Tom bravely took the full force of a well-struck close range free kick on his back and Ben narrowly missed what would have been the goal of the season. A fine Bilton Ajax defensive clearance left the Alveston goalkeeper out of position and Ben’s opportunist effort from over 20 yards narrowly slipped wide of the far post.

Bilton Ajax 0 – 4 Snitterfield Colts under 9’s

Today brought a beautiful sunny Saturday morning for the massive horde of family and friends to support the young Bilton Ajax side in their latest Mid-Warwickshire Football League Division 1 clash against mid-table Snitterfield Colts.

The young Bilton Ajax side began the first-half, as they have so many this season, at half-pace and despite commanding a lot of ball possession allowed the much more experienced Snitterfield Colts attack to pierce their defences on several (3 to be exact) occasions.

The second-half is what the young Bilton Ajax side need to do for the full 50 minutes! Superb footballing skills from Liam H earned him the well-deserved Man-Of-The-Match award and the whole team took much more command of the game and threatened the Snitterfield defence on several occasions. Their defence was (almost) impenetrable and their attack was both exciting and vigorating.

If they could only produce two-halves at the pace and determination of their last 5 second-halves a win is only minutes away for these fine young footballers …

Bilton Ajax U9’s 0 – 3 Balsall and Berkswell Juniors

The young Bilton Ajax players came out with fire in their boots to produce an absolutely thrilling end-to-end first half with too many sparkling performances to mention in one small paragraph. Good solid defence, especially from Aaron, and piercing through balls from midfield had all of the loyal supporters on the edge of their brollies. This was easily the best first-half performance of the season so far and at 0-0 had the Balsall and Berkswell Juniors more than a little nervous about how they would fair in the second-half.

Unfortunately the young Bilton Ajax may have given too much in the first-half and they looked tired going into the second-half. Then out of nowhere a high through ball cleared the Balsall defence and left just Ben and the goalkeeper but the ball did not bounce quite right for the shot and ended up nestling into the goalkeepers hands. Almost immediately Balsall countered and being unable to clear the ball from defence the opposition managed to scramble their opening goal. Despite still being very much in the game an unfortunate penalty and further scrambled goal finished off Balsall's win.

Bilton Ajax were so close today to turning around their fortunes and all bodes well for the closing few games of the season for them to hopefully find the net, and dare I even suggest a victory?

Kenilworth Town 9 – 0 Bilton Ajax

A dank and dreary April morning set the scene for one of the young Bilton Ajax side’s poorer performances of the latter-half of the season. Despite only managing to field 6 players mid-table Kenilworth Town were in control of the game from start to finish, showing just how well they can score goals from just about anywhere within 10 yards of the goal.

In an injury rich game almost every player on both sides suffered some sort of knock at some time, notably goalkeeper skipper Henry retiring hurt a few minutes from the end of the game requiring Ross to step-up to the plate. Liam S battled hard all game to earn himself the Man-Of-The-Match award.

The young Bilton Ajax players have done so well and improved so much over this season, but today was proof (if proof were required) of just how much more they need to improve to become truly competitive at this Division 1 level of football. Too much ball watching and chasing and just not enough gusto in their tackling and passing prevented Bilton Ajax from capitalising on their extra player advantage.

Bilton Ajax 0 – 5 Kenilworth Warden Juniors

What a difference a week makes as the young Bilton Ajax regained their fighting spirit and remained competitive throughout an exciting end-to-end encounter with 3rd placed Kenilworth Warden Juniors in their penultimate Mid-Warwickshire Football League Division 1 game.

Despite conceding a quick goal almost immediately from the start the young Bilton Ajax side kept their focus and showed much improved movement and possession of the ball in the first-half. Good marking and excellent vision kept the Kenilworth side on their toes and under some pressure at the back.

Unbelievably conceding another goal almost as quickly in the second-half they again kept their composure and troubled the Kenilworth defence even more than in the first-half. Lady luck did not shine again as man-of-the-match Liam S narrowly missed what would have been their first league goal of the season.

With excellent performances from everybody today other candidates for MOTM included Aaron, Oli and Ross for battling hard from the beginning to the end.

Bilton Ajax Juniors 0 – 9 Lawford United

An experienced Lawford team were the visitors for Bilton Ajax Juniors inaugural match. Lawford started well, with three early goals. Ajax then enjoyed their best spell of the match, having plenty of possession and threatening the Lawford goal. On the stroke of half time the Bilton side conceded an unfortunate penalty which Lawford converted.

A lively second half began with Lawford scoring a deflected goal, before adding further goals late on as their experience told.

Whitnash Town Colts 8 – 1 Bilton Ajax Juniors

The score-line does not do justice to a hard fought encounter. Whitnash took the lead after 5 minutes and added two further goals against the run of play just before half time. A swift counter attack bought a fourth goal for Whitnash before Ajax hit back. A determined run by Fabrizio Paglianni was halted unfairly in the box and Quincy Garcia confidently dispatched the resulting penalty. With Ajax pressing for further goals, Whitnash decisively converted 2 swift counter attacks. Despite plenty of possession, the attacking intent of Ciaran Dempsey and the determination of Ollie Cool, Ajax conceded 2 more breakaway goals deep into stoppage time.

A really encouraging performance for an inexperienced team.

Bilton Ajax Juniors 2 – 2 Banbury Irish Under 10’s

A pulsating game finished all square. Banbury scored first from a corner before Ajax restored parity when a William Miller pass was converted by Quincy Garcia. As half time approached Juniors pressed but excellent defending thwarted Troy Loveridge and Ollie Cool. Ajax took the lead in the second half with a blast from Kyle Smith and held on with determined tackling from Tom Dunkley and the Wilkins Brothers. Eventually Banbury drew level from a free kick and pressed as Bilton reshuffled due to an injury to midfield dynamo Fabrizio Paglianni. A rousing finale saw both teams going for victory. Assured handling by goalie Jack Unett, solid defending by Ben Carew and Kieran Rodham ensured a first point of the season for Juniors.

Bilton Ajax Juniors 2 – 5 Woodford Halse Under 10’s

A below par performance by Ajax in the first half saw them trail nil- 2 at half time. Defensive lapses cost Bilton dearly and their only threat was 2 Quincy Garcia drives that went narrowly wide. Woodford increased their lead in the second half through an own goal, a free kick and a tidy finish before Ajax sprang to life. A Troy Loveridge shot worked the Woodford goalie before a six pass move culminated in a confident finish by Ollie Cool. Almost immediately Ollie added a second before being denied a hat trick by a timely interception following an Ajax corner. Despite excellent performances from Max Wilkins and Ben Carew, Juniors must aim to be quicker off the starting blocks in future.

A bright start from Ajax saw a Max Wilkins effort go narrowly over before a precise Fabrizio Paglianni shot gave them the lead. Moments later Admirals equalized and despite a Jack Unett effort that dipped narrowly over Juniors went 3 – 1 down at half time.

Admirals scored early in the second half and then conceded a penalty for a trip on Ollie Cool. Ollie’s penalty hit the post then ran agonisingly along the line before being cleared.

Despite plenty of possession Ajax’s only other effort was a Troy Loveridge snapshot that shaved the upright before conceding three late goals.

A good effort against well disciplined opposition, with fine performances from Kieran Rodham and William Miller.

Bilton Ajax Juniors 0 – 2 Central Ajax Under 10’s

A bitterly cold day saw a keenly contested game between two totally committed sides.

Central Ajax scored in the second minute and added another goal shortly after a Kyle Smith drive went narrowly wide for Bilton. Strong tackling by Ben Carew and Kieran Rodham combined with the safe handling of Jack Unett ensured juniors were only 2-0 down at half time.

Bilton responding to the promptings of Tom Dunkley dominated the second half. Fabrizio Paglianini and Troy Loveridge both brought flying saves out of the Central goalie, before Quincy Garcia and Ollie Cool were denied in goalmouth scrambles.

The final whistle came too quickly for juniors but credit to Central Ajax for a sterling defensive display.

Great effort Bilton and one worthy of a point. Season's best performances from many players.

Heavy overnight rain made the pitch like a bog. Ajax got bogged down conceding two early goals and losing keeper Jack Unett to injury. Quincy Garcia went close twice before Ajax conceded two further goals as Woodford coped better in  the quagmire conditions.

On the stroke of half time Juniors conceded again the conditions once more claiming the assist.

Bilton began the second half strongly and five players were denied in a monumental goalmouth scramble. Against the run of play Woodford scored again before Ciaran Dempsey went close twice for Juniors. Eventually Ajax were rewarded for their second half dominance when Troy Loveridge robbed the Woodford defence and released Ollie Cool to finish confidently. Despite more pressure the Woodford defence held firm until the final whistle.

A physical encounter saw Radford run out the eventual winners. The first half was ferociously fought, Radford scoring halfway through and Bilton seeing an Ollie Cool drive rebound off the post.

In the second half the game was decided by two bizarre refereeing decisions after Radford added a second and both Juniors strikers were denied by the Rangers keeper. Radford were awarded a ghost goal that nobody in the ground apart from the ref thought had crossed the line and moments later Radford scored again after a bad challenge on an Ajax player went unpunished. Radford added another on the final whistle.

The scoreline does not give an accurate reflection of the game with notable performances from Jack Unett, Kieran Rodham and rapidly improving Dom Wilkins.

A foggy morning saw Juniors visit Stratford for the first of five consecutive away fixtures.

Ajax started brightly Max Wilkins converting a pinpoint Troy Loveridge corner. Stratford in search of an equaliser attacked relentlessly, with the ever improving defensive duo of Ben Carew and Kieran Rodham standing firm.

Eventually Wanderers levelled before midfield dynamo Fabrizio Pagliarini went close to restoring Bilton's lead.

t half time the scores were level the crossbar coming to the aid of Ajax. Stratford scored early in the second half then repelled constant Ajax attacks. They added a third and despite the strong running of Tom Dunkley and Ollie Cool Juniors couldn't pierce a solid defence. Stratford broke away right on time to add a fourth.

Strong winds and driving rain welcomed Juniors back into action after an enforced break due to illness.

Wulston adapted better to the conditions and scored a couple of early goals. Individual and collective errors due to Juniors inexperience of playing in such atrocious conditions saw them concede another 4 goals prior to half time.

Ajax began the second half in much more determined fashion, Fabrizio Pagliarini scoring a superb individual goal and adding a second almost immediately. Bilton began to pass the ball around as they can and only alert keeping maintained Wulstan's healthy advantage. As Ajax began to run out of steam they conceded a penalty excellently saved by William Miller before being caught out by 3 late goals which made the final result look a lot worse than it actually was.

Juniors began the second half strongly with Jack Unett moving confidently into defence and some excellent link play between Troy Loveridge and Ollie Cool pressurising the home defence. Tom Dunkley released Fabrizio Pagliarini who drew a fine save from the Henley keeper before the home team upped the tempo.  William Miller in the Ajax goal made some good saves before being beaten twice late on. Ajax though hit back. Quick thinking Kyle Smith released Ollie Cool who showed pace and composure to get behind Colts defence and finish from an acute angle. Norton Lindsey restored their two goal advantage in the only other first half chance.

The second half was quiet until mid-way through when Colts scored twice in a minute after lapses of concentration from Ajax. Against the run of play Woodford scored again and keeper Quincy Garcia saved well to keep the score 2-0 at the break.

Ajax reduced the arrears early in the second half. A five pass move started by Troy Loveridge on halfway was clinically finished by Ollie with Tom Dunkley claiming the assist. With Bilton pressing defenders Ben Carew, Dom Wilkins and the dominant Kieran Rodham needed to be at their best to repel Woodford breakaways. Ajax equalised when Troy and Max Wilkins combined, Troy scoring with a fine turn and shot. With minutes remaining Woodford got lucky on a break and scored following a fortunate rebound. Bilton were stronger in the second half with Fabrizio Pagliarini dominating midfield but Central did hit the post on a breakaway and moments later repeated the feat only this time converted the rebound. Ajax then saw a curling Troy Loveridge corner smack the woodwork before Fabrizio reduced arrears with a well placed shot from distance.

Defensive sloppiness cost Ajax 2 further goals before half time. Kenilworth Wardens Falcons 1 - 0 Bilton Ajax Juniors

A close encounter on a blustery morning saw Kenilworth narrowly win. With the slope in their favour Kenilworth had the better of the early exchanges going close with a powerful header. Juniors eventually settled and created a few chances, but half time saw the score 0-0. Ajax began well in the second half Ciaran Dempsey bringing a fine save from Falcons keeper before a slick move resulted in Kenilworth netting the decisive goal. Juniors had further opportunities the closest being a Kyle Smith free kick that fizzed over. Despite plenty of possession Bilton could not equalise and relied on Ben Carew and keeper Jack Unett to ensure Falcons did not increase their lead.

Bilton Ajax Juniors 1 – 0 Kenilworth Falcon Juniors

Juniors deservedly recorded their first ever victory.  First chance went to Juniors Ollie Cool who was denied by the outstretched leg of the goalie after a pinpoint through ball from Troy Loveridge. Falcons only effort of the first half was a free kick which brought an outstanding saver from Ajax keeper Jack Unett. Bilton began strongly in the second half with Quincy Garcia, Max Wilkins and Fabrizio Pagliarini all going close. Eventually the breakthrough came with Ollie Cool latching onto a loose ball and finishing with a firm low drive. Kenilworth responded with a series of attacks that found keeper Jack in imperious form. The only time he was beaten Troy hacked the ball off the line to ensure Bilton the victory. The final whistle was greeted with loud cheers from the Bilton side.

Bilton Ajax Juniors 2 – 6 Wulstan Dynamoes

A sunny morning helped create a buoyant atmosphere for the final game of the season. Wulstan began buoyantly racing into a 2 goal lead before Ajax settled. The swiftness of Dynamoes attacking brought them further goals before Ollie Cool responded for Bilton with a fine solo goal. An own goal increased Wulstans lead before Troy Loveridge reduced the deficit scoring directly from a corner. Despite creating plenty of chances Ajax didn't score in the second half and neither did Dynamoes on their rare forays in the Bilton half. A good effort to end the season.

Bilton Ajax 0 - 3 Leamington Juniors

First game of the season for Bilton and with 2 pre-season games in the last week resulting in victory Bilton’s confidence surely could not be higher, but with all that confidence they may have over looked the fact that the newly formed Leamington Juniors are a combination of 2 of last years top teams.

Right from the start Bilton were put on a back foot with a stream of attacks that kept nearly all the play in their own half and with two quick goals from the visitors Bilton were finding the game tough.

Finally Bilton found some form with a saved penalty and a shot on goal only to be kept out by the post but the first half ended 0-2.

The second half saw Bilton hitting the post again but Leamington still proved to be the stronger side and a third goal gave the visitors a comfortable win.

September 21st 2008

Snitterfield Colts 2 – 1 Bilton Ajax

A thrilling game from the start with two evenly matched teams, both showing great determination for the game along with good football.

With the teams so close in ability a high scoring game was not on the cards but it would eventually only take a drop in concentration from Bilton to put Snitterfield a goal up.

The second half saw much of the same good football with Bilton having most of the attacking moves, at last a string of passes all the way up the field put the ball at Blair Girvin’s feet to be clinically put away to bring the scores level.

It looked like the match was going to a draw but with under ten minutes to go Snitterfield broke through to put away their second which clinched the match but well done Bilton for a great entertaining game.

28th September 2008

St Peters Celtic Colts 1-5 Bilton Ajax

After two hard games to start the season, both ending in defeat, it seemed that Bilton’s luck could finally change. St Peters had suffered heavy defeats in their last two games so Bilton’s confidence was high.

The first half quickly brought them back down to earth with St Peters battling all the way. Blair Girvin’s opening goal for Bilton was soon equalized by St Peters to leave the scores 1-1 at half time.

After the break Bilton really started to play football but this time St Peters could not raise their game. A hatrick from Charlie McQuillan with all three goals taken with absolute class and one more for Blair Girvin saw the game finish 5-1. Bilton have now tasted victory this season down to a great second half effort and quality finishing, well done lads.

Sunday October 5th 2008

Bilton Ajax 2 – 1 Hillmorton Juniors

First round of the league cup and local rivals Hillmorton were back with a vengeance after their pre-season defeat at home to Bilton.

The first half saw both teams evenly matched with chances at both ends but finally Hillmorton broke through the back four to put the visitors a goal up.

The second half saw much the same with Bilton being saved by the post and a goal mouth clearance but eventually their hard work paid off with a strike from Blair Girvin to put the scores even.

The last ten minutes were mostly Bilton’s with attack after attack and with time almost over a hand ball in Hillmorton’s box gave Bilton a penalty that would surely clinch the game. Blair Girvin coolly executed the kick to put Bilton ahead and finally end the game 2-1, so Bilton are through to the next round, bring it on.

Sunday October 12th 2008

Bilton Ajax 1 – 2 Central Ajax

Bilton knew that Sunday’s game was going to be one of their big tests of the season; Central Ajax had shown all summer that they had a formidable 11 a side squad to start the new season. The game started well with Bilton mainly defending but holding the visitors well, only a well taken goal by Central Ajax split the two teams at half time.

The second half saw Bilton raising their game with good attacking moves and strong defending but a long ball over Bilton’s defense found a lone striker that lobed the keeper to put them 2 goals up.

Bilton showed that like previous games that they don’t give up and the last ten minutes was mostly theirs and with a well taken goal by Blair Girvin the game finished a respectable 1-2.

Sunday October 19th 2008

Khalsa Juniors 3 – 3 Bilton Ajax Under 11s

Bilton’s first league game against the division 2 leaders turned out to be their most spectacular performance this season. After conceding an early goal against the home team it looked like Bilton were going to be the latest to add to Khalsa’s huge goal difference, not this time.

Bilton fought back with real determination and 2 great goals from Tom Jones and Blair Girvin saw the visitors 1-2 up at half time.

In the second half it was Khalsa that fought back, wave after wave of attacks which had Bilton pinned in their own half and finally 2 goals had Bilton trailing 3-2 with only a few minutes left. Bilton’s manager and coach took the gamble and changed to an attacking formation which resulted in a fast ball forward to finish with a great goal from Aidan Quinney to bring the final score to a well deserved draw. What a game.

Sunday 2nd November 2008

Leamington Juniors 9 – 0 Bilton Ajax

Sunday afternoon saw Bilton suffer their worst defeat this season with Leamington totally ruling the game.

With only 2 goals down at half time, there was still a hope that Bilton could find their lacking form but 3 goals in under 5 minutes sealed the game with most of the second half still to play. Bilton hardly went through the motions for the remainder of the game and another 4 goals hardly seemed to matter.

Best forget about this one boys.

Sunday 30th November 2008

Bilton Ajax 8 – 0 St Peters Celtic

First game back after their biggest defeat 4 weeks ago and what a difference.

Bilton played with great confidence and control with all the team giving one hundred percent. A team formation of only three at the back put Bilton on the offensive for most of the game and it wasn’t long before Blair Girvin opened the scoring shortly followed by a 20 yard screamer from Sean Rye to put Bilton 2 up.

Harry Clay followed with a third to give the home side a comfortable lead at half time.

The second half was no different, Bilton on countless attacks whilst the defence comfortably dealing with any threats. Fourth on the score sheet was Tom Jones followed By Jack Smith to take it to five. Harry Clay’s second of the game made it six, Charlie Mc Quillan took it to seven and finally Blair Girvin wrapped up with his second to make it seven.

Great score line for a great game, well done.

Sunday December 7th 2008

Snitterfield Colts 5 – 3 Bilton Ajax

Playing with only ten men against a home team second in the league, this was never going to be easy. Snitterfield kept Bilton pinned in their own half with only a few short breaks of attacking football to give the visitors any hope, but with three first half goals for the Colts the game was going only one way.

The second half saw an amazing comeback for Bilton with three quick goals from Aidan Quinn, Blair Girvin and Mathew Court in under ten minutes, but the home team managed to dig in and after regaining their pace put another two goals past Bilton to seal the victory.

Sunday December 14th 2008

Kenilworth town 2 v 10 Bilton Ajax

Sunday saw Bilton back in league action, and all who braved the cold weather were treated to a feast of goals. Ajax started brightly and were rewarded, after several attacks, with a trademark Blair Girvin strike. The pressure continued with Blair netting his second of the game midway through the half, however, the hosts fought back to leave the score 2-1 at the break. Ajax came out for the 2nd half full of confidence playing some fantastic attacking football eventually running out 10-2 winners. Goals coming from Blair Girvin (3), Tom Jones (2), Matthew Court, Adam Cox and a Hatrick on his Debut for Jack Bond. Well done Lads.

December 21st 2008

Khalsa Juniors 0 – 11 Bilton Ajax

After last weeks comfortable win against Kenilworth Town, Bilton were hoping for another easy win in their draw in the second round of the league cup.

Although the first ten minutes were goalless Bilton finally started what was to be today’s “grab a goal” match with Blair Girvin opening the score. Just a few minutes later and Adam Cox netted followed by Charlie McQuillan, Jake Richardson and Blair Girvin’s second to put the visitors 5 goals up at half time.

Second half and Jack Smith stepped forward to take it to 6, Jake Richardson got his second of the game to make it 7 and still Bilton kept pushing, mainly because every player wanted his name on the goal sheet.

Mathew Court took it to 8 followed by Blair Girvin’s hatrick to make it 9.

Tom Clarkson’s goal put Bilton into double figures with Blair Girvin putting away his 4th to finally end the game at 11 goals to nil.

Sunday January 11th 2009

Khalsa Juniors 1 – 8 Bilton Ajax

On returning again to Khalsa juniors for their first game of 2009 Bilton were hoping for another easy win and they got just that.

Three goals in under five minutes from Tom Jones, Jack Bond and Aidan Quinn finished the home side before they could really get started.

Khalsa managed a few breaks but two goals from Charlie McQuillan and Jack Bond’s second finished the half at 0-6.

The second half started no different to the first with Charlie McQuillan getting his hatrick but Bilton did manage to lose concentration and conceded a well celebrated goal to Khalsa.

The game still carried on though with Bilton much the stronger side and with Jack Bonds third goal the game finished again a very convincing win for the visitors.

Sunday 18th January 2009

Bilton Ajax 7 – 0 Kenilworth Town

Bilton’s winning streak continued on Sunday with another great victory, this time over Kenilworth Town. Although the visitors gave Bilton plenty to defend they could not find Bilton’s finishing ability.

Blair Girvin opened the scoring for Bilton with Jack Bond netting 2 to give the home side a comfortable lead at half time.

The second half started with a great strike from Charlie McQuillan followed by a brave goal from Tom Jones which took the goal tally to 5, but the day went to Jack Bond with another 2 great goals, 4 in total to finish the game an impressive 7 goals to nil.

Sunday January 25th 2009

Wellesbourne 1 – 8 Bilton Ajax

Although as the score shows that Bilton were again under hardly any threat of losing this game, they really were a joy to watch. Their passing, defending and all other aspects was as good as they have ever played and of course the goals game as a result of this.

A first half hatrick from Jack Bond with other goals from Charlie McQuillan, Harry Clay and Blair Girvin had buried the game 0-6 by half time.

Bilton took their foot of the gas for the second half with some free running from the defenders who were loving it. A silly goal was conceded by the visitors but was soon forgotten after Blair Girvin Headed in his second and Jack Bond netted home his now becoming familiar fourth goal.

Sunday February 1st 2009

Bilton Ajax 1 – 9 Kenilworth Wardens

Bilton’s winning stake came to an end this week. Scoring 34 goals and only conceding 2 in their last 4 games it looked like 2009 was going to be a big year for Ajax, but a good performance from the league 1 title contenders proved too much for the home team and feeling of defeat was back on Bilton’s shoulders.

The game though was not all Kenilworth’s way with Bilton making some good attacking play in which they were rewarded with a great solo run and goal from defender Adam Cox. As like all other defeats, Bilton never gave up and took the game to Kenilworth for every minute of the game, as they always do against any good side, but this was always going to be a tough one and Bilton will not be too discouraged by it.

Sunday 22nd February 2009

Bilton Ajax 3 – 1 Snitterfield Juniors

After a three week break due to the weather, Bilton returned with a great performance against Snitterfield who were one place above them in the league table.

Both teams started well with the visitors getting an early goal which never seemed to knock Bilton’s confidence, continued attacking moves with great passing kept Snitterfield under control and finally a solo run from Blair Girvin ended with a well placed goal to put the scores level.

More pressure from Bilton for the rest of the first half meant so many near misses but Adam Cox finally got the deserved second goal to put the home team ahead at half time.

With the wind behind them, Bilton controlled the second half but could not find the goal to put them in a more comfortable lead, finally a well taken free kick from Charlie McQuillan was flicked on by the head of Blair Girvin to give Bilton that much needed third goal and seal the game. Best performance this year, well done.

Sunday March 1st 2009

Wellesbourne 0 – 5 Bilton Ajax Under 11s

Once again Bilton returned to Wellesbourne to clinch another convincing win on a pitch which seems to allow them to play some great football.

Bilton’s vision in their passing with confidence on the ball and in tackles soon paid off with Jack Bond opening the scoring with a well battled goal, Blair Girvin soon followed with a cracking volley to make it two.

Tom Jones got himself on the score sheet with another great goal to go three up.

Sean Rye made easy work of a penalty, putting it past the keeper who earlier had made the best penalty save you will ever see in junior football from Blair Girvin’s spot kick.

Just as their last meeting, Bilton stepped off the gas a little in the second half holding the home team comfortably from scoring and with Sean Rye’s second goal of the match with only a few minutes left, the game finished a deserving 5 goals to nil.

Sunday March 8th 2009

Bilton Ajax 2 – 4 Khalsa Juniors Under 11s

This will be a game to remember for Bilton but only for the weather.

The game started with Jack Bond scoring the quickest goal of the season, just seconds into the game, but celebrations were cut short when Khalsa equalized just a few minutes later. The game was looking to be a real thriller after Tom Clarkson’s fantastic goal to put Bilton another goal up was again equalled by the visitors. But With a freezing wind followed by vicious hail storms, the young lads really suffered and so did their game. Khalsa managed to get a third to go ahead by half time and even praise and encouragement from their manager at the break could not lift their spirits which led them to be pinned in their own half for most of the remaining game. After many injuries and a fourth goal from Khalsa, the game ended with most players happy just to leave the field.

Sunday March 15th 2009

Bilton Ajax 4 – 2 Khalsa Colts Under 11s

Sunday saw another comfortable win for Bilton, although past scores against Khalsa have been higher, the home team was no less convincing.

Moving up to mid field, away from his familiar defensive position, Jack Smith found the net to open the scoring with Blair Girvin scoring soon after to go 2 up.

Jack Smith again proved to be stronger in the box to get his second of the game and when Adam Cox scored from the penalty spot to put Bilton four goals ahead, the game was sealed.

Khalsa managed to get a goal from a free kick shortly before the break and even managed the same in the second half but Bilton were never under any real threat and cruised for most of the game by just playing simple football.

Sunday March 22nd 2009

Snitterfield Juniors 3 – 3 Bilton Ajax Under 11s

Another thrilling game at the Snitterfield ground and an absolute joy to watch. Bilton were totally in control for the first 15 minutes but amazingly a single corner kick from Snitterfield found the net to put the home team ahead. Bilton were not fazed by the goal and with midfield winning just about everything it was not long before Blair Girvin equalized to bring the score level at half time.

The second half was just as good, Harry Clay was rewarded for great play on the wing by netting a lovely goal to put Bilton ahead, but suddenly 2 quick goals from Snitterfield put the visitors behind again.

The game kept entertaining with end to end football and finally Bilton got their reward with a late equalizer from Tom Jones to finish the game with a satisfying draw.

Sunday March 29th 2009

Kenilworth Wardens 3 – 0 Bilton Ajax

No bigger example of a home team advantage has been witnessed than on Sunday against Kenilworth. With the pitch not even two thirds the size of Bilton’s home ground, and most others come to that, the visitors never found their positional play plus ability to pass and find space. With all this in mind Bilton still looked the stronger side throughout the game but could not find the net. Kenilworth on the other hand took three goals from nowhere to clinch the game and leaving Bilton wondering how did they manage to lose this one.

Wednesday 15th April 2009

 Bilton Ajax 5-2 Kenilworth Wardens

In the return fixture of their previous game Ajax were out for revenge . Judging by their play it didn’t take much for the lads to get themselves up for this with some exciting attacking play and almost constant pressure in the opponents half . This was rewarded after countless near misses with a well taken goal from close range from Charlie Mcquillan . Half time came with the score 1-0 .

Ajax continued their dominance after the break with Blair Girvin getting his 1st of the match with a cool finish into the corner . Route 1 for the 3rd goal after a huge kick by goalkeeper Harry Dimmock was dispatched to give Blair his second of the game . The visitors fought back with 10 minutes of pressure which resulted in 2 quick goals , the 1st from the penalty spot . To relieve the pressure Blair completed his Hatrick with a powerful header from a corner and to cap an awesome performance Blair finished the game off with his 4th and Ajax's 5th , well done to all!!
