Balsall and Berkswell Colts 3 – 1 Bilton Ajax U10’s

The young Bilton Ajax squad made an exciting and invigorated start to their new Mid-Warwickshire Football League U10 Division 2 campaign. The dedicated coaching by Manager Steve Uranjek and his team over the long summer is paying off as the young side are using every available inch of pitch and moving the ball faster and more accurately, creating chances at every opportunity.

Hopefully one of the best opposition goalkeepers we will encounter this season helped Balsall & Berkswell Colts steal the game away from Bilton Ajax as good shots on the opposition goal came thick & fast all game. Simply put we had at least 40 minutes in control of the game, with a superbly practiced right-wing cross converted by Fin early in the first-half, taking us into the lead and breaking the young Bilton Ajax’s league goal duck on the first game of the season! A sloppy piece of defending allowed Balsall & Berkswell a scrappy equaliser leaving the score 1-1 at half-time.

Balsall & Berkswell had few more than 3 chances all game reminiscent of last season where the opposition managed to convert goals and we didn’t. In a frustrating second-half we must have had at least 20 shots on goal, only to watch the game slip away with two more late break-away goals in the dying minutes.

A win for the young Bilton Ajax squad is surely only 50 minutes away?

Bilton Ajax U10’s 5 – 0 Warwick Colts

!!! GO BILTON AJAX !!!

YES! You are reading the right report and the right result! As predicted last week the young Bilton Ajax team put in the best performance that has been seen so far over two seasons and recorded their first ever league win and a clean sheet to boot! An overall fantastic team performance blasted a shell-shocked Warwick Colts off the pitch for almost all of the game! Breaking the recent trend of allowing the opposition to sneak silly goals the whole team were solid from the first to the final whistle.

The first-half saw man-of-the-match Liam P, Olli, Ben, Fin and Alex using every inch of the pitch to force piercing runs down both wings and superb cross-goal passes. Supported by solid performances from the young Bilton Ajax defence the pressure mounted on the Warwick Colts defence and the opening goal was only a matter of minutes away. Superb open play goals from Liam P and Alex led the Bilton Ajax into a comfortable 2-0 half-time lead.

The second-half saw much of the same and more as the Bilton Ajax defence joined in the attack with left-half Brad expertly lobbing the goalkeeper from 20 yards, Alex capitalising on a Warwick Colts forced defensive error and the most excellent header into the top-right corner by Aaron from an exquisite corner cross-kick by Liam S.

Bilton Ajax 3 – 1 Balsall and Berkswell Colts

Saturday 3rd October 2009

The young Bilton Ajax squad returned the result that they should done a few weeks back in their home return match with a well disciplined Balsall and Berkswell Colts. A sleepy consolation goal just after the half-time restart stole another clean sheet away from Bilton Ajax and although they appeared to make hard work of today’s encounter they never really looked like losing it.

It is easy to forget that the backbone of good results like this is a dedicated and solid defence and today the entire back row of Henry, Tom, Aaron and Dec deservedly jointly claimed the Men-Of-The-Match award.

With the gusting wind behind the opposition in the first-half Balsall and Berkswell squandered their best chances but the tireless performances of Tom and Aaron at the back were never going to make it easy for them. Mounting pressure from the Bilton Ajax midfield and attack eventually forced a hand-ball penalty expertly converted by Olli leading Bilton Ajax into an uncomfortable 1-0 lead at half-time.

In the second-half the young Bilton Ajax team used the wind to their advantage when Fin and Ben combined to glance a headed goal early into the second period. Balsall and Berkswell briefly kept their game alive with a scrambled goal but Ben sealed Bilton Ajax’s victory late in the second-half with an opportunist open goal.

Bilton Ajax 1 - 0 Kenilworth Warden Colts

Saturday 10th October 2009

The game started with most of the pressure coming from the Bilton Ajax boys. This was highlighted by 2 or 3 great cross field passes from Alex Smith that almost got Liam Parkes away on 2 occasions. Two brilliant pieces of skill from Ben Clark made both of the best chances of the first half that the keeper done well to save. The only real pressure coming from Kenilworth came from long throw into the Bilton box.

Bilton made the breakthrough with an exquisite shot from Olly from the corner of the 18 yard box which looped over the helpless keeper just before half time

Kenilworth then came close with a shot that rebounded off the post bounced off Henry in goal and went for a corner.

Much of the pressure in the 2nd half came from Kenilworth but they didn’t really create any chances worthy of note. mainly down to the fantastic defensive performance of all the team. 3 wins from the last 4 and a real team effort

Admirals 2 – 1 Bilton Ajax

Saturday 17th October 2009

Good solid performances from Henry, Tom and Aaron at the back definitely prevented a worse score line as the young Bilton Ajax side struggled to get into today’s game. On the positive side even playing below par the young Bilton Ajax players never gave up and always looked a part of the action.

A game of two halves saw Bilton Ajax help Admirals look good in the first-half and the Admirals side took full advantage of their dominant possession going into half-time with a 2-0 lead, with very little sparkle visible from the young Bilton Ajax team.

The second-half saw the young Bilton Ajax side wake-up and threaten Admirals much more, but their consolation goal, a lovely strike from Liam P into the bottom right-hand corner, came too late in the game for them to resurrect any points from the fixture.

Hillmorton 5 – 2 Bilton Ajax

Saturday 24th October 2009

A wet and murky morning set the scene for a well-battled local derby where the score line doesn’t really reflect how close the young Bilton Ajax team were to stealing a draw or even a win. Bilton Ajax allowed Hillmorton to win too many 50/50 challenges and struggled to win the ball from throw-ins and set pieces.

The end-to-end first-half saw chances at both ends with Bilton Ajax unlucky on several occasions not to get the ball passed a well-disciplined Hillmorton goalkeeper. Hillmorton took the honours going in to half-time with a 2 goal lead after capitalising on Bilton Ajax not being able to get the ball clear of the goal area.

Bilton Ajax woke up in the first quarter of the second-half and were unlucky not to convert a penalty from a blatant handball offence. Suddenly the young Bilton Ajax midfield began to break through and a fine strike from Olly forced a defensive mistake and Bilton Ajax were back in the game. Hillmorton sneaked another goal, quickly followed by a super midfield attack expertly converted by Alex. At 3-2 Bilton Ajax pushed everything forward to try to rescue the game but left themselves exposed at the back and 2 more Hillmorton counter-attacks finished the game off.

Bilton Ajax 0 – 6 Central Ajax

Saturday 21st November 2009

The young Bilton Ajax squad should be pleased with this performance and note the fact that Central Ajax are the runaway division leaders. Watching the vision, ball speed and very disciplined performance from much better Central Ajax side this is not at all surprising. The young Bilton Ajax side played themselves proud today against easily the best opposition they have faced this season.

Bilton Ajax found themselves under all sorts of continuous pressure in the first-half and it is with great credit to the Bilton Ajax defence that Central Ajax only converted two of their many chances. Having said this Bilton Ajax still threatened in the opposition box and by half-time the game was still anyone’s for the taking.

Central Ajax came out fighting in the second-half and overpowered the young Bilton Ajax midfield and scored a couple of very good goals. Full marks are due to the Bilton Ajax team who never gave up and heads never went down and despite the final score line always remained competitive, this was never at any point a walkover victory for the much more experienced Central Ajax side.

Fenny Compton 1 – 1 Bilton Ajax

Saturday 28th November 2009

A bracingly cold but bright Saturday morning saw Bilton Ajax bounce back to competitive form in a super end-to-end encounter with second placed Fenny Compton. The young Bilton Ajax side fought for every ball and had pace and vision passing the ball around between every player on the pitch. This game was a real pleasure to watch although to be fair Bilton Ajax did use up at least 3 lucky chance cards scrambling the ball off their goal line on several occasions.

The first-half saw chances at both ends and some lovely football from both sides. Grinding tackles from Tom and Aaron and good saves from Sam at the back coupled with good overall chasing back and marking from midfielders Olli, Liam S and Liam P kept Fenny Compton at bay and created some good open play chances up front for Ben. At 0-0 it was always looking like a draw would be a good and fair result.

More of the same determination at the back and good midfield tackling from Dec and Fin resulted in an exquisite long ball through from Fin at the back right to Alex’s feet up front, and with yards of space Alex calmly converted into the bottom right-hand corner to take Bilton Ajax into a 1-0 lead. Fenny Compton failed to capitalise on many corner set pieces, but eventually managed to scramble an open play equaliser a few minutes later, finishing the game with a very fair result for both sides.

Bilton Ajax 0 – 4 Fenny Compton U10’s

Saturday 6th February 2010

The best team won today but the young Bilton Ajax squad should be proud of themselves for an overall good performance and they should take consolation that Fenny Compton scored a couple of cracking goals, and they should also take note of how they did it … quick ball movement and running into space.

The first-half was the familiar story of good end-to-end football and superb defending from Sam, Tom and Aaron at the back and solid chasing and tackling from Olli in midfield. With chances squandered at both ends it looked like a 0-0 half-time score would have been fair but an unfortunate on-the-ball incident missed by the referee allowed Fenny Compton to sneak a 1-0 lead going into half-time.

The second-half began brightly again with Bilton Ajax still in with a chance until Fenny Compton scored a couple of good open play goals to take the game out of Bilton Ajax’s reach. Credit to all of the young Bilton Ajax players as their heads never went down and they again remained competitive right to the final whistle.

Banbury Irish 0 – 1 Bilton Ajax

Saturday 13th February 2010

!! ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC !! A lovely bright Saturday morning saw easily the best team performance from the young Bilton Ajax squad this season. Pace, direction, movement, passing, calling, supporting and most importantly shooting on target gave them the boost they needed and 3 well deserved league points.

Right from the very first whistle you could feel that something special was going to happen today as the young Bilton Ajax players immediately put Banbury Irish under pressure with at least four good shots on goal in the first 10 minutes, and they continued to set and control the pace of the game. Despite a few breakaway attacks from Banbury Irish Bilton Ajax never looked like losing this game, but could they win it? Bilton Ajax could have been 3-0 up at half-time if the goals were just about 3 inches higher & wider.

A bit of a wobbly start to the second-half saw Banbury Irish squander probably the best chances they had in the game, but Bilton Ajax quickly regained their composure and fully controlled the last 15 minutes of the game. Constant pressure on the Banbury Irish defence eventually forced a wild slide-tackle, the resulting penalty was very forcefully converted from the spot by Man-Of-The-Match Olli.

Bilton Ajax 4 – 1 Hillmorton

Saturday 13th March 2010

Bilton Ajax did everything right in this crunch local derby with everything to play for as any of 6 teams could come between 4th and 9th in the league table with only 4 points separating all of them. The young Bilton Ajax team played as exactly that, a team, and they battled for every ball and strung together some of the most exciting and fluent passing moves we have seen this season. Well done to every single one of them today.

The first-half began brightly with some lovely passing moves down the right-wing between Ben, Olli and man-of-the-match Liam S. A couple of very near misses had Hillmorton under all sorts of pressure then Ben broke the ice with a lovely open play goal. Hillmorton came straight back and equalised within a few minutes with what would be one of only a handful of chances they would have throughout the rest of the game. Several near misses later Liam S. broke his league duck to take Bilton Ajax into half-time with a 2-1 advantage.

Another wobbly start to the second-half saw Hillmorton have their best period of the match camped in the Bilton Ajax half, but solid performances from Tom and Aaron at the back kept them at bay. Sam had an excellent brave game but had to retire hurt from a clash at the end of the first-half. Bilton Ajax gradually regained control and superb movement and passing from Brad, Fin and Alex put Ben right in front of the goal to score and ease the pressure. The most exquisite long-range free kick from Scott forced a defensive error and like a true centre forward Ben slotted home his hat trick.

Leamington Juniors 3 - 1 Bilton Ajax

Saturday 3rd April 2010

Wow what a fantastic and exciting season finale as the young Bilton Ajax players gave 3rd placed Leamington Juniors a big scare today and could have so easily stolen another 1 or even 3 points. Although they will finish 8th or 9th out of 10 teams every single player should hold their head up high and celebrate an absolutely fantastic season 16 points W-5 D-1 L-12 some cracking goals and great team performances. Roll-on the summer tournaments and 11-a-side where they are really going to start to excel.

A vibrant start to the first-half saw the young Bilton Ajax team putting the depleted Leamington side under all sorts of pressure and three corners in Liam S converted a goalmouth scramble from a superb Olli corner. It was end-to-end with both sides having chances but with Bilton Ajax definitely looking the favourites to take the spoils. A last-minute goal scramble saw Leamington luckily pull back to 1-1 at half-time.

Bilton Ajax felt the pressure in the second-half but solid goal-keeping from man-of-the-match last minute draft goal keeper Alex, and some of the most forceful tackling and clearances from on-form Aaron and Tom at the back it looked like Bilton Ajax could hold on to the draw or even sneak a win. Everyone gave 110% today but probably one of the best goals we have seen this season from Leamington piled on the pressure and in the dying minutes a big push from Bilton Ajax left everyone exposed at the back and Leamington managed to scramble home another decisive goal.

Bilton Ajax u11’s 0 – 8 Stratford Wanderers

September 13th 2009

An eleventh hour change of venue didn’t help pre-match preparation for the first game of the season. Ajax began well but Stratford scored three goals midway through the half, although two were aided by massive deflections. A fourth goal heralded half time. Wanderers added two more goals early on in the second half, the latter being a superb strike. Bilton then began to play and Louis Roberts saw a run and shot bobble the wrong side of the post, before a rising drive from Ciaran Dempsey went narrowly over. Stratford added two further late goals to confirm their superiority. A better second half effort from Ajax was encouraging as was the form and handling of Keeper, Jack Unett who excelled. Wanderers showed the benefit of pre-season matches being sharper all round than Ajax. MOTM- Louis Roberts.

Whitnash 9 - 0 Bilton Ajax

September 20th 2009

On a warm day under strength Ajax caught a cold conceding 3 goals in the first ten minutes. The Bilton side then got a foothold in the game, Louis Roberts twice being denied by the Whitnash keeper, before the home side added a spectacular fourth against the run of play.

Whitnash began the second half like the first scoring 3 quick goals with Ajax reduced to 10 players through injury. Bilton battled well, particularly Fabrizio Pagliarini in midfield. Troy Loveridge carved out chances for James Hudson and Aurelian Adelmant who were both denied by rugged Whitnash defending. Two late goals were harsh on Bilton especially William Costello who had a fine game.

MOTM-William Costello.

Norton Lindsey Colts 10 - 0  Bilton Ajax

October 11th 2009

The score line was a complete injustice to Ajax who created plenty of chances but failed to find the back of the net. The first twenty minutes saw nothing between the teams before Colts took the lead with a shot from outwide.  Individual defensive lapses then cost Ajax any hope of the game. However, the players kept their heads up and James Hudson fired narrowly wide from distance before Louis Roberts brought a double save from the NLC keeper. Despite the creativity of Will Miller and Max Wilkins Ajax could not find the net and went close late on through the industrious Fabrizio Pagliarini and Quincy Garcia .

The effort the lads put in helped to create an enjoyable game for all, the results will come providing you play the rest of the season with that spirit.

MOTM James Hudson

Bilton Ajax 0 – 7 Central Ajax

Sunday 18th October

An entertaining game saw Central run out clear winners by the final whistle.

A closely contested first half saw Central have more possession with Bilton playing on the break. Central took the lead just before half time scoring at the near post, just after Bilton were denied by a dubious offside flag.

Bilton began the second half in determined fashion but two moments of defensive hesitation put the game beyond their reach. Central had a penalty rebound off the post before scoring 4 times late on. Bilton had a number of injuries and tiredness took its toll. A good effort lads against a solid team, but there is still plenty of hard work to do.

MOTM.... Fabrizio Pagliarini.

Rugby Iax 20 – 0 Bilton Ajax

Sunday 1st November 2009

The score line was totally irrelevant as 9-man Ajax were on a loser from the start against an 11-man side. The players who turned up can be proud of the battling display they put on creating a handful of quality chance, just falling short with the decisive finish. Stand in keeper Aurélien Adelmant made an excellent penalty save, clinging on to a well struck penalty. Fabrizio Pagliarini went close twice created by his own tenacity and a last ditch tackle denied Ciaran Dempsey who was lively throughout. Tom Dunkley battled well all afternoon and a good defending prevented him from capitalising twice on a Troy Loveridge corner and cross. Some good football was played by both sides and hopefully Ajax will not be playing light again this season can start getting positive results.

Radford Semele 5 – 0 Bilton Ajax

Sunday 8th November 2009

A lively physical encounter saw Radford run out eventual winners. The first half was end to end with Radford scoring from distance and a goalmouth scramble to lead 2- 0 at half time. Ajax came out strongly in the second half and took the game to Radford. Ben Carew thought he had reduced the arrears but his goal was ruled out for a foul on the Radford Keeper. Etienne Callaghan and Ciaran Dempsey went close for Bilton before the latter was incorrectly flagged for offside when clean through on goal. With Will Miller and Fabrizio Pagliarini controlling midfield Ajax were denied in three more goalmouth melee’s before Radford broke away to score three more goals in the last 10 minutes. This was harsh, especially on Keeper Jack Unett, who pulled off some excellent stops.

MOTM; Ben Carew.

Bilton Ajax 0 – 7 Khalsa

Sunday 15th November 2009

Ajax made a dreadful start conceding 3 goals in the opening 10 minutes. However they battled back with Louis Roberts pace and Troy Loveridges’ creativity causing the Khalsa defence problems. Both were denied by desperate defending. The fourth goal conceded just before half time was harsh on Ajax who had a number of players in unfamiliar positions. Khalsa began the second half strongly and only the confident Keeping of Jack Unett stopped them scoring more than 2 further goals. After a further reshuffle due to an injury to the improved Dominic Wilkins another goal was conceded before Bilton finished strongly with Louis and Troy being at the forefront of their best moves. We need better concentration at the back from the start if we are to progress, however there were encouraging performances by first season players Aurelien Adelmant and James Hudson.

MOTM Troy Loveridge

Bilton Ajax 1 – 3 Banbury Irish

Sunday 29th November 2009

The goals in this game came in a 5 minute spell either side of half time. Irish took the lead against the run of play before Ajax restored parity, a pinpoint Troy Loveridge corner being drilled home by Max Wilkins. Banbury caught the Ajax defence napping from the restart to take a 2-1 lead into half time. Irish scored a third poking home a free kick early into the second half to conclude scoring. Ajax went close on numerous occasions, Louis Roberts beating goalie and unfortunately past to an Etienne Callaghan corner. Bilton dominated play with Fabrizio Pagliarini and Tom Dunkley controlling midfield play did everything but score again. Strong tackling from the impressive James Hudson and cultured defending from Jack Unett ensured Irish had no further chances. This sort of effort is required every week if we are to improve.

Central Ajax 7 -2 Bilton Ajax

Sunday 24th January 2010

An early kick off caught the Bilton defence still sleeping conceding an unfortunate own goal and 2 others with only a Ben Carew effort deflected wide in the first 20 minutes. Central added 2 more goals before half time. The second half saw a resurgent Bilton with the pace of strikers Josh Billington and Louis Roberts causing problems in the home defence. Both shot wide before Louis latched onto a William Miller pass and finished emphatically. Ciaran Dempsey doubled Biltons score with a powerful drive after good work from Josh. Bilton tried hard to increase their tally but conceded 2 further goals in the last few minutes as they tired on a heavy pitch.

A good effort against a quality team.

Khalsa 6- 2 Bilton Ajax

Sunday 7th February 2010

An entertaining game was decided by Khalsa's superior physical advantage. Bilton began slowly conceding a soft goal, and two good ones in the first quarter.  The introduction of Dominic Wilkins back from injury steadied the ship and his excellent tackling and distribution propelled Ajax forward and both strikers were denied by acrobatic goalkeeping. A soft fourth goal was conceded by Bilton before half time. In the second half Ajax dominated possession and were rewarded when Fabrizio Pagliarini scored before Khalsa added a fortuitous fifth. Bilton continued pressing and Josh Billington finished a good move with an angled shot to reduce the arrears. Khalsa's keeper then denied Fabrizio with a superb save and performed well to prevent Ajax increasing their score before Khalsa added a sixth in the dying minutes. A good effort Ajax, everyone competed well especially the industrious James Hudson and man of the match Fabrizio Pagliarini

Bilton Ajax 1 – 0 Norton Lindsey Colts

Sunday 14th February 2010

A game of few chances saw Ajax register their first win of the season. Defences dominated only a fine save from the visitors keeper denied the impressive Etienne Callaghan giving Bilton the lead from a free kick before a pinpoint Fabrizio Pagliarini shot put Ajax ahead in a period before half time when they controlled the play. The second half saw the Ajax defence hold firm as Norton threatened without troubling keeper Jack Unett, the visitor’s only chance blazed over. Bilton created chances of their own but failed to increase their tally. A great effort by all the squad to gain a deserved victory especially Ben Carew and man of the match Harrison Jupp.

Bilton Ajax 5 - 1 Woodford United U11’s

Sunday 7th March 2010

Ajax continued their improvement with a deserved win against a resolute Woodford side. Josh Billington hit the bar before he opened the scoring for Ajax with Louis Roberts adding a second firing home a rebound. Louis and Josh both scored again as Bilton dominated the first half. Woodford were more determined in the second half and fine goalkeeping stopped Bilton increasing their lead before Daniel Cole blasted home a loose ball. With fine defending from the back four and the excellent tackling of James Hudson and creativity of Troy Loveridge Ajax should have scored more although Fabrizio Pagliarini rattled the bar before Woodford scored a deserved consolation from distance. An excellent performance from the whole Ajax squad on duty.

Bilton Ajax 0 -1 Radford Semele Rangers

Sunday 14th March 2010

A windy day saw a physical encounter between two closely matched sides. Ajax wind behind their backs couldn't penetrate a solid Radford defence and had to rely on their own defenders William Costello, Ben Carew, Harrison Jupp, the Wilkins twins and keeper Jack Unett to ensure parity at half time. Radford with wind assistance began the second half well and after five minutes scored the decisive goal a miscued shot that bobbled in. Ajax responded well AA creating opportunities that weren't taken and Etienne Callaghan being denied by good defending. In a tense finale Louis Roberts was thwarted by a last ditch tackle as was Troy Loveridge by an alert onrushing keeper. Radford's goalie then kept out both Bilton strikers as Ajax couldn't get the draw they richly deserved. A plucky performance that was worthy of a point.

Bilton Ajax 1 – 9 Rugby Iax

Sunday 20th March 2010

Bilton started sluggishly and were fortunate to only concede 3 times in a first half that Iax dominated. Ajax did equalize midway through the half Aurelein Adelmant firing home at the far post following a Josh Billington free kick.  The second half was a much more competitive affair the difference between the teams being Iax converted their chances whereas Ajax failed to apply a decisive finish to any of their opportunities. More endeavour required Ajax if you are to rediscover your recent good form thus ensuring a strong finish to the season.

Kenilworth Warden Colts 4 – 2 Bilton Ajax

Sunday 28th March 2010

Ajax contrived to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. A positive start saw Ciaran Dempsey shoot Bilton in front after Aurelien Adelmant's trickery. Wardens levelled in their only attack of the half before Fabrizio Pagliarini hit the post after good work from William Costello. Fabrizio then converted a James Hudson pass to give Ajax an interval lead. Wardens equalised early in the second half and scored a third aided by uncertain defending. Etienne Callaghan went close to an equaliser before a fine free kick increased Wardens advantage. An interchange between Troy Loveridge and Josh Billington saw the latter hit the upright but although dominating Ajax didn't score again despite the promptings of Max Wilkins. Whilst laying siege to Wardens goal the refs watch sprang forward BST + 5 minutes, the game ending inexplicably early.

MOTM Ciaran Dempsey.

Bilton Ajax 1 – 2 Kenilworth Warden Colts

Sunday 18th April 2010

Ajax were unfortunate not too share the spoils in an entertaining game. A lively opening saw Josh Billington fire over before he converted a long Jack Unett goal kick at the second attempt to put Bilton ahead. The impressive Max Wilkins went close from distance before Wardens equalised with their first notable attack on the stroke of half time. Bilton began the second half well Louis Roberts setting up Josh to go close before Kenilworth floated an attempted cross into the Ajax net. Spurred on by the pace and skills of Etienne Callaghan Bilton tried in vain to restore parity Ciaran Dempsey being denied by good goalkeeping, before the final whistle ended proceedings with Ajax camped in the opposition half. A fine effort by both teams - unlucky Ajax.
