Under 14 Colts Mid-Warwickshire League 9th September 2007
Tasmanian Cruisers 2 v 3 Bilton Ajax Colts
A hard earned winning start to the season saw Bilton deservedly take the points despite a strong finish from their hosts. Bilton had the majority of the play and chances in the opening 20 minutes and without poor finishing/good goalkeeping would have been well ahead. On 24 minutes Jimmy Tanser burst through the Cruisers defence to put Bilton ahead; this lead doubled on 27 minutes with co-striker Joshua Brown finishing well.HT 0-2.Bilton continued the restart in similar vein and when Jimmy Tanser netted for 3-0 after 12 minutes of the 2nd half the game looked safe. Cruisers however began to dominate, MOM Alex Ray amongst a stretched Bilton defence needing more help from up field. A corner on 25 minutes which Bilton failed to clear allowed Cruisers a goal back and another for the hosts at the death saw Bilton hanging on; keeper Jack Schofield-Newton on top form for the visitors. First game performance, but good enough.
Under 14s – Mid-Warks League Division 1 Sunday 14th October
Bilton Ajax 2 v 3 Whitnash Town
Bilton’s opposition, division 1 winners last season and with 100% record so far this season, play to win football matches. That Bilton gave as good as they got and deserved something for their outstanding effort speaks volumes for this performance. Whitnash started strongly, taking the lead on 4 minutes and determined for more. Bilton gradually held their own and on 22 minutes the home side equalised through a direct free kick from Joe Dominy, one of many who stood out today. Bilton finished the half on top, MOM Jimmy Tanser denied on 30 minutes after a fine save; Joshua Brown heading Bilton in front just before the break courtesey of another quality ball from Joe Dominy.HT 2-1. The second half saw a formidable Whitnash recovery; crosses into Bilton’s penalty area not dealt with provided 2 goals within the opening minutes to put the away side on top. An outstanding goal-line clearance from Jamie Carter kept Bilton in the game and as in the first half Bilton then matched their uncompromising opposition. No points for Bilton, but a proud performance.
MWJFL U14 DIVISION 1
Bilton Ajax 2 v 2 Alveston
Recent history repeated today; a poor performance, defensive frailty and a winning position wasted. Bilton were in control for much of the first half; both Joe Dominy and Jimmy Tanser with good efforts on target; the latter producing an excellent run and cross for Joshua Brown to head home on 17 minutes and put Bilton deservedly ahead.
A blatant hand ball on 30 minutes allowed Alex Ray a well converted penalty for 2-0 and a comfortable lead at half-time.
Bilton continued in similar vein into the second half and were denied on several occasions by good goal-keeping, but as the half progressed the visitors found form and reduced their deficit on 15 minutes; this weak resistance encouraging Alveston who finished strongly. That the visitors were gifted an equaliser on 28 minutes merely underlined this poor show; much better than this will be needed next week.
MWJFL Under 14’s League Cup Second Round Sunday 04/11/07
Bilton Ajax 2 - 3 Kenilworth Wardens Juniors
Much better this week against strong opposition. Bilton undone again and out of the league cup by mistakes after an outfield performance which deserved much more. Both sides competed well in an even 1st half, Bilton perhaps ahead on efforts on and off target against organised opposition who always looked likely to threaten the home goal. On 23 minutes Bilton edged ahead when a shot from Jimmy Tanser, outstanding in effort today, looped over the excellent Wardens keeper - a hard-fought lead against a team Bilton have yet to beat. All of this was wasted on 32 minutes when a Wardens free-kick was parried back to them for a tap in and 1-1 at halftime. A well-worked goal saw the visitors take the lead 2 minutes into the 2nd half but this game still had Bilton looking to get back at their opposition and a quality floated free-kick on 17 minutes from MOM Thomas Tanser found Jimmy Tanser who stayed strong and finished well for 2-2.Another weak goal conceded on 20 minutes ultimately ruined this performance as Bilton finished strongly but with nothing to show from a hugely frustrating afternoon.
MWJFL U14 DIVISION 1 Sunday 11/11/07
Bilton Ajax 0 v 5 Kenilworth Wardens
No repeat of last weeks tight game as the visitors continued unbeaten this season, although the final score line reflects harshly on Bilton’s 11 players who competed with honest endeavour without any reward.
An early well-worked Wardens goal on 3 minutes set Bilton back, but the hosts then proceeded to equip themselves well, matching their strong opposition in possession and openings. An 8 minute spell however wrecked Bilton today, on 22 minutes Wardens finished for 2-0 after a defensive error, on 24 minutes a superb strike from distance made it 3 and on 30 minutes a shot that should have been saved gave Wardens a 4-0 lead. HT 0-4.
That Bilton shaded Wardens in the second half, to be hit by a fifth for the visitors in the last minute, speaks highly of Bilton’s effort against quality opponents. MOM Alex Ray for tireless effort along with others in a fruitless but spirited performance.
MWJFL U14 DIVISION 1 Sunday 18/11/07
Whitnash Town Colts 4 v 3 Bilton Ajax
Another narrow loss against the current title-holders; Bilton were denied today as a 3 goal lead turned into defeat with a late penalty leaving them with nothing to show again from a mighty performance. Bilton dominated the opening quarter of this match, Jimmy Tanser firing home after 3 minutes and Jamie Carter finishing from a Joe Dominy free-kick which produced a scramble in the Whitnash box. That Bilton went 3 up inside 10 minutes when Joshua Brown finished well after a strong run and cross from Thomas Tanser was no more than they deserved, other chances were squandered in this outstanding spell. The match then evened it self out and on 30 minutes Whitnash got one back, their scorer allowed to run through the middle of Bilton’s defence. HT 1-3.Whitnash pulled this back on 10 minutes when awarded a goal after a scramble in which the ball didn’t appear to cross the line and equalised on 17 minutes; the late penalty rubbed the salt. MOM Louis Brayson with a solid return performance in a team display to lighten the rain and gloom.
MWJFL U14 DIVISION 1 Sunday 25/11/07
Bilton Ajax 2 v 0 Tazmanian Cruisers
A thoroughly deserved win and another sound collective performance saw Bilton take the points and keep a clean sheet. After a stiff run of fixtures and 5 games without a win, Bilton could easily have come unstuck today against a very decent and organised Cruisers side; that the first half remained goal-less gave a reasonable reflection of the play,Bilton having the more clear-cut chances but thwarted at every turn by Cruisers excellent goalkeeper. HT 0-0. The second half saw a similar pattern as Bilton looked the more likely to score but also vunerable on occasions; the deadlock broken midway through the half when a superb run and cross from MOM Thomas Tanser was headed home by Jimmy Tanser. Cruisers then threatened to equalise from well-taken corners which were scrambled clear; the game being settled on 30 minutes when Joe Conaboy fed Thomas Tanser who surged through the opposition defence and finished emphatically for Biltons 2nd.A pleasing show and well-earned result.

MWJFL DIVISION 1 Under 14 Colts Sunday 2nd December 2007
Bilton Ajax 4 v 2 Khalsa
Another sound performance today as Bilton overcame decent opposition who had won the corresponding fixture in September. A strong wind made conditions awkward; Bilton shading the opening exchanges as both teams looked to take an advantage. On 20 minutes Bilton took the lead when Jamie Lester headed across Khalsas penalty area to set up Joe Dominy who finished well. Chances proved hard to come by in the half as the teams competed against both each other and the elements. HT 1-0.Bilton played the second half with the wind but the visitors looked the more likely to score; their good work undone however on 8 minutes when a quality Thomas Tanser cross was fumbled by the keeper to put Bilton 2 up. A huge clearance from MOM Jamie Carter, on the edge of Bilton’s penalty area, saw the ball bounce over Khalsas unfortunate goal-keeper on 10 minutes for 3-0; in hindsight this was a deliberate and intended 60 yard shot for sure. A strong run and finish from Jimmy Tanser gave Bilton a 4-0 lead after 11 minutes; this was harsh on Khalsa who were well worth their 2 goal reply on 20 and 32 minutes. Good stuff.
MWJFL U14 DIVISION 1 Sunday 9th December 2007
Bilton Ajax 1 v 0 Hillmorton Colts
A typical local derby on a heavy pitch produced a game lacking in quality but not effort and saw Bilton take the points;the one goal margin not a true reflection of this match whatever reports from across town might suggest.Bilton enjoyed most of the play and possession in a goal-less first half, but for all their endeavour did not seriously test the Hillmorton keeper.Highlight of the half came on 30 minutes when a free-kick was smartly worked by Thomas Tanser for MOM Joe Dominy to cross with Joe Conaboy heading narrowly wide.HT 0-0.Bilton were rewarded for their efforts shortly into the second half when Jimmy Tanser directed a precision free-kick for Thomas Tanser to head home;this turned out to be the decisive event of the match and extends Biltons winning run to 3 games putting them somewhere near league-wise that their performances so far this season deserve.
MWJFL U14 DIVISION 1 Sunday 16th December 2007
Alveston 4 - 7 Bilton Ajax
An end of term performance saw Bilton provide some festive defending but still have enough quality in parts to bag another 3 points. An early quality cross from MOM Thomas Tanser, outstanding today, was expertly headed home by Joshua Brown to put Bilton 1 up. The half degenerated for Bilton from then on however into a disjointed effort and Alveston deservedly drew level for 1-1 at HT.A repeat goal, this time crossed by Jimmy Tanser and headed in by Thomas Tanser put Bilton ahead on 4 minutes only for Alveston to earn a penalty and square the match at 2-2 after 6 minutes. Bilton then won the game with 3 goals in 10 minutes; Jimmy Tanser finishing well and Jamie Carter neatly heading home; both goals set up by Thomas Tanser who headed in Bilton’s fifth from a superb Joe Dominy corner. Further goals from Thomas Tanser and Joshua Brown mixed in with 2 soft replies for Alveston completed the scoring.
MWJFL U14 DIVISION 1 Sunday 6th January 2008
Henley Forest 0 - 3 Bilton Ajax
A sound team performance saw Bilton continue their winning run into the New Year. Both teams made a decent start on a huge pitch; Bilton showing more quality throughout however and deservedly taking the lead when MOM Jimmy Tanser, outstanding today, showed great control and clinical shooting on 16 minutes. No further goals in the half; Bilton’s defence solid when needed, credit to Jamie Carter, Alex Bolland, Louis Brayson, Joshua Brown, Will O’Rourke and Alex Ray as positions were chopped around today through injury and limited numbers.HT 0-1.Biltons lead doubled directly into the 2nd half when Jimmy Tansers shot from distance was spilled by the otherwise impressive Henley goalkeeper, allowing Thomas Tanser, who along with Joe Dominy bossed Bilton’s midfield, to tap in for 0-2.Further opportunities for Bilton’s front pair of Jamie Lester and Jimmy Tanser, who troubled Henley throughout, were squandered before the latter walked in Bilton’s third on 32 minutes after defensive error.
MWJFL U14 DIVISION 1 Sunday 13th January 2008
Bilton Ajax 3 v 1 Hillmorton Colts
Bilton made hard work again today in getting by their near neighbours but ultimately did enough to secure a sixth straight win ahead of next week’s major opposition. An uninspiring first half, not helped by swirling wind, saw Bilton take the majority of the possession and create several half-chances without seriously threatening the Hillmorton goal the visitors again proving resolute, requiring quality to break down which Bilton didn’t show in this half. On 30 minutes Hillmorton highlighted the home sides’ shortcomings by scoring against the run of play as missed tackles put them 1-0 up at half time. A better 2nd half effort produced an equaliser on 5 minutes for Jamie Lester who finished a decent Bilton move and on 14 minutes an excellent cross from Joe Conaboy was headed in by Joshua Brown, the scoreline beginning to reflect Bilton’s share of this game. A third on 28 minutes from Jimmy Tanser was no more than Bilton deserved.
MWJFL U14 DIVISION 1 Sunday 27th January 2008
Bilton Ajax 3 v 1 Tazmanian Cruisers
Another sound performance saw Bilton extend their winning run to seven and cement third place ahead of a two week break. Both teams started brightly with few clear cut chances, in truth an even encounter with neither goalkeeper unduly troubled. The home side however gradually gained advantage and on 26 minutes Thomas Tanser slotted home after an initial excellent save to put Bilton 1-0 up at HT. The second half saw Bilton show some quality as they took charge of this game; on 4 minutes an accurate corner from the excellent as usual Jimmy Tanser was brilliantly headed in by Joshua Brown for 2-0.Bilton bossed this half with some good football and sound battling; MOM Joe Conaboy personifying Bilton’s resolve today. A cleared corner turned swiftly into attack on 24 minutes put Bilton 3-0 up; Jimmy Tanser expertly sweeping forward to supply Joe Dominy, outstanding all game today, who showed great control and finished well. Good performances too from Jamie Lester and Will O’Rourke in an excellent show tarnished late on with a goalkeeping gift for the opposition.
MWJFL U14 DIVISION 1 Sunday 17th February 2008
Alveston 0 v 5 Bilton Ajax
A comprehensive win today and an eighth in succession ahead of next week’s crunch game which will decide Bilton’s season. A small pitch and committed opposition saw Bilton largely in control early on but unable to convert any of several decent chances that their good play created. On 27 minutes however Alex Bolland expertly won possession in defence and fed Thomas Tanser who skilfully controlled and finished to put Bilton deservedly 1-0 up at HT. The second half became one way traffic; on 3 minutes MOM Joe Conaboy "finishing “after a goalmouth scramble for 2-0;on 9 minutes a fierce Thomas Tanser shot was parried by the excellent Alveston goalkeeper only for Will O’Rourke to slot in Bilton’s third. A well-taken penalty on 11 minutes by Alex Ray after Joshua Brown was tripped put Bilton 4 up; quality play from the latter setting up Will O’Rourke for his second and Bilton’s fifth on 26 minutes.
MWJFL U14 DIVISION 1 Sunday 17th February 2008
Whitnash Town 0 v 1 Bilton Ajax
An outstanding battle saw Bilton inflict a first defeat of the season on title-holders Whitnash and extend their own run of successive wins to 9. Previous games between these 2 sides have always been tight and hard fought; this game didn't disappoint and the end result was thoroughly deserved for this Bilton side who did themselves and their manager proud today. The first half stayed goal-less but saw Bilton play the better football and create more opportunities without being able to force home their advantage. HT 0-0. Bilton began the second half in similar style, but Whitnash gradually gained the upper hand and looked the more likely to score. Bilton, however stood firm and took a crucial lead 12 minutes from time when Thomas Tanser finished from a half saved shot from Jimmy Tanser. Bilton then finished strongly to record a memorable result.
MWJFL DIVISION 1
KHALSA 4 v 2 BILTON AJAX
Bilton’s fine run ended in frustration today as a disjointed performance compounded by individual error finished Bilton’s interest at the top end of the division for this season. A goal within seconds after Joshua Brown had set up Jimmy Tanser saw Bilton take an immediate lead against a Khalsa side who then fought back in an even half. The home side’s efforts were rewarded on 15 minutes when a free-kick found Bilton’s net unopposed to gift them an equaliser and undermine their visitors. A quality free-kick on 25 minutes from Jimmy Tanser saw Thomas Tanser expertly head home to restore Bilton’s lead only for Khalsa to pull level just before half-time with another effort that should have been kept out.HT 2-2.Khalsa proceeded to claim the upper hand in the second half and took the lead on 9 minutes when their excellent centre forward proved too strong for Bilton’s defence; the home side confirming their deserved win with a fourth goal late in the half.
MWJFL U14 DIVISION 1 Sunday 9th March 2008
Kenilworth Wardens 1 - 0 Bilton Ajax
A hugely impressive effort from Bilton as they lost by the smallest of margins against quality unbeaten opposition who will deservedly win this league. The first half of this very competitive encounter saw few clear cut chances either end; the best of which produced a smart save from Wardens excellent goalkeeper to deny MOM Thomas Tanser who was outstanding today. Bilton were solid and resolute across the pitch and good value in reaching half-time on level terms.HT 0-0.Despite injury reducing limited options still further, Bilton continued to match their hosts and on 18 minutes produced a corner which saw a Joshua Brown header bounce off Wardens crossbar; the game staying close but Wardens now looking more threatening. The decisive strike on 27 minutes won this came for Wardens as a goalmouth scramble saw their scorer quickest to react; a harsh end for Bilton after a proud performance against very worthy opponents.
MWJFL U14 DIVISION 1 Sunday 30th March 2008
Bilton Ajax 1 - 5 Kenilworth Wardens
An abject 2nd half performance with Bilton carrying too many passengers saw the home side slump to a miserable defeat against champions-elect Wardens; this final home game of the season a poor finish to an inconsistent season and ahead of change for this squad. The first half proved even as Bilton matched their quality opposition; that Bilton took the lead on 18 minutes when Jimmy Tanser forced in a Thomas Tanser free-kick wasn’t an unfair reflection of the play. Wardens drew level on 30 minutes after an excellent save from Joshua Brown was reacted to quickest by the visitors; a Jimmy Tanser effort off the Wardens crossbar just before half-time illustrating an even opening.HT 1-1.Wardens took the lead in this match on 9 minutes after weak defending and despite another initial quality stop from Joshua Brown; from then on the visitors dominated; the home side in need of several being substituted but with no replacement available. Further goals in the final 15 minutes underlined the visitors’ superiority.
MWJFL U14 DIVISION 1 Sunday 20th April 2008
Henley Forest 4 -4 Bilton Ajax
A woeful performance to finish a season of under-achievement as Bilton repeatedly threw away leads against lower opposition to end with a point and 4th place. A heavy pitch contributed to a first-half which lacked quality; Bilton producing only glimpses of good football with far too many having poor games today. One such play on 32 minutes put Bilton ahead; Joshua Brown finishing after good work from Joe Dominy; excellent as usual this afternoon.HT 0-1.Another moment of quality on 15 minutes put Bilton 2-0 up as Jamie Lester broke forward and crossed well for Joshua Brown to score his second; Henley hit back with a sweet overhead kick; Jimmy Tanser restoring Bilton’s 2 goal advantage on 20 minutes. The home side however grew in effort as Bilton floundered and were soon level at 3-3; Alex Ray appeared to have won the game with Bilton’s fourth only for Henley to equalise at the death.
