Bourton & Frankton 0 - 4 Bilton Ajax Colts U9’s

On a lovely morning Bilton Ajax Colts had something to prove after defeat last week. Colts started strongly and pressured Bourton from the off. The narrow pitch requiring good accurate passing kept minds on the game. This created great link play from the midfield trio of Aston, Dan & Taylor who fed a constant stream of through balls for front man Devon. Pressure told mid-way through the first half with a thunderous shot from Aston that sailed into the top corner of the net. In the ascendancy Colts were camped in the Bourton half and when the Ball found its way to Dan on the edge of the box, a delicate lob made it 2 - 0 at the half time point.

A Half time change saw the introduction of Luke and he didn't have to wait long for his first chance at goal. More good interplay through the middle found the ball at Dan’s feet wide on the left, his resulting cross shot fooling the keeper to end up in the corner of the net for his brace. Time was running out for Bourton and when a long ball landed at the feet of Luke, his low accurate shot made it 4 - 0 at the final whistle.

A much improved performance showing the travelling crowd exactly what they can do.

Bilton Ajax U9 Colts 3 – 4 Central Ajax Juniors

Colts under 9’s started well in a tightly fought game. After going one down to an early goal by Central, the Colts answered back through Aston after a well worked move.

Some good football from both teams in attack and defence brought every player into the game. Central got a 2nd before the half time whistle to lead at the break.

Colts made a few changes at the interval and made a good start the second half with Devon lively up front scoring his first of 2 goals with a fine individual score.

Colts edged ahead but seemed to run out of steam allowing Central to claw their way back only being kept out by good defending from Sammy and some good saves from William.

The constant pressure told in the end and Central got an equaliser which tied the game up with minutes to play.

A miss timed tackle in the dying seconds handed Central a penalty which William could do nothing about as it was hit with such force.

The ever lively Aston, who tackled and ran his heart out produced a fine captains display but it was lack of match fitness from the squad that told in the end.

Bilton Ajax Colts 2 - 2 Whitnash Town

The predicted tightly fought contest between these 2 sides didn’t disappoint as Whitnash aimed to keep their unbeaten run going.

Colts started strongly with good inter passing from the off and were rewarded with a free kick on the edge of the box after ten minutes when Aston was brought down.

Having dusted himself off, Aston struck the ball and delicately placed it in the top corner of the net to make it 1 – 0.

This seemed to spark Whitnash in to life and they started to pressure the Colts goal.

Good defending from Cameron, who showed some neat touches to get himself out of trouble, kept the opposition at bay until a breakaway and a thunderous shot had the colt’s keeper well beaten.

With the game level at the break both teams had it all to play for in the second half.

Colts making good progress down the flanks with a constant flow of great balls in from Taylor which went unconverted.

Whitnash upped the ante and it seemed like it would only be a matter of time until they nudged ahead which they duly did with 10 minutes remaining.

With their backs to the wall Colts dug deep in defence and when a clearance found Devon on the half way line he had a lot of work to do before powering home the equaliser with a great shot.

The final whistle sounded with honours even which seemed a fair result in the end.

Hillmorton 0 – 6 Bilton Ajax Colts

In this local derby Bilton Ajax Colts started strongly, keeping their shape with good passing and movement.

Target man up front Devon, was fed a constant stream on balls from both flanks via Dan and Taylor and his delicate reverse lob over the keepers head made it 1 – 0 to the colts.

More pressure through the middle and some driving runs from Aston meant that it wasn’t long before Devon made it 2 – 0 and this is how the half-finished.

Confidence high colts started the second half as they’d finished the first and were soon 3 up from the boot of Ethan, scoring his first goal for the club.

After a few personnel changes, the colts pushed hard to put the game out of reach and Devon netted his hatrick to make it 4 – 0.

With time running out for Hillmorton they had to push forward leaving gaps at the back which colts exploited and a neat layoff gave Taylor a clear shot at goal which he wasn’t going to miss.

Devon rounded things off with his fourth to bring proceedings to an end at 6 – 0 and a good result for the Bilton team.

Bilton Ajax Colts 4 – 1 Banbury Irish

Ajax Colts came up against a spirited and determined Banbury Irish side with a point to prove.

Ajax started strongly knitting together some nice passing to give them good field position, but Banbury kept them at bay with some good defending.

Dan Price broke the dead lock with a thunderous left foot shot from outside the box to get the colts on their way.

Banbury came back but the defence of Joshua Taplin and Sammy Anczarski stood firm.

Some good interplay and a nice touch saw the ball find Deven McBeen who only had one thing on his mind as he made it 2-0.

Banbury hit back before the half time interval leaving it wide open in the second half.

A rejuvenated Colts took the field and a fine run and shot from Aston Clarke found the top corner of the net to put a bit of daylight between the teams.

Colts lead was extended from a corner when the ball ended up in the back of the net off a defending leg.

This is how the game ended but a special mention has to go to the Banbury goal keeper who made a string of fine saves to keep the colts lead to a minimum.

Kenilworth Wardens 1 – 6 Bilton Ajax Colts

Ajax Colts knew that if they won this game they would move in to second place in the league and be within touching distance of securing the division 1 spot.

Colts started strongly on a well-manicured pitch lending itself to good passing football but were unable to breach the Wardens defence early on.

A break by Kenilworth against the run of play, ended with a good finish to put the colts 1 – 0 down.

This seemed to spur the colts back in to action and the game was level when Luke Mays pounced on a rebound to equalize.

With his scoring boots on Luke made it 2 – 1 and Ajax seemed to have the game under control at the half time point.

The second half started as a more even affair with both sides attacking and defending well.

A dubious free kick after a great tackle awarded Kenilworth a free kick just outside the box.

With the ball heading in to the top corner William Aston pulled off a save of Premiership quality to keep the colts in the lead.

Full of renewed spirit Ajax pushed forward to put some breathing space between them and the home team with a quick brace of goals from Deven McBeen.  

With the flood gates now open Ajax were attacking in force and Taylor Hall capped off a fine performance with a couple for himself.

With a rest week ahead Ajax can now look forward to their top of the table clash against Westwood Utd in a couple of weeks’ time.

Ajax Colts 2 - 1 Norton Lindsey Juniors

Ajax continue with their good form with a hard fought top of the table clash against Norton Lindsey Juniors.
After a very one sided first half Ajax were unfortunate to be 1-0 down. After 10 mins of having all the possession in the second half
Ajax finally got the equaliser with a Daniel Price penalty, Ajax continued to pile on the pressure and went ahead
with a well-deserved goal from man of the match Aston Clarke. With a last minute quick reaction save from
'keeper William Aston, Ajax got a well-deserved win.

Westwood United 2 – 4 Bilton Ajax Colts U9’s

This really was the one to watch as the top two teams in the league met to battle out for mid-term supremacy.

Ajax started strongly attacking up the slope and it seemed to surprise the home team who couldn’t get any possession from a slick Colts side.

Taylor Hall opened the scoring after good work at the back from Devon McBeen who linked well with Luke Mays to set up the chance.

Colts were denied a second from a Dan Price corner which the defender clearly pushed around the post with his hand, but the referee must have been unsighted as it resulted in another corner.

Westwood gained some valuable possession and some dogged tackling ended in them getting a free kick wide on the right.

The free kick was struck perfectly and ended up in the back of the Ajax net leaving it honours even at half time.

Ajax continued their dominance in the second half and the pressure told with a well taken goal from the edge of the box by Aston Clarke.

Some swift passing and movement from back to front saw the ball fall to Dan Price who netted from a sweet strike.

With their tails up the colts pushed forward trying to put the game beyond the home side and this was all but done when Taylor Hall slid home a well placed shot to make it 4 -1.

With time running out Westwood threw everything at Ajax and got their reward in the final minutes with a consolation goal.

An all round great performance from the whole team secured Ajax their place in division 1 topping the group stage.

League Cup

A week can make all the difference and it certainly did in this closely fought cup tie.

It seemed like a different colts team that turned up compared to the previous week as they started very slowly conceding a goal in the first few minutes.

Westwood controlled the game in the first half with colts defending for their lives in an attempt to keep the deficit to a minimum.

This was backed up by some fine saves from Ajax keeper William Aston between the sticks.

Half time couldn’t come soon enough and the players were given some home truths by coach Danny Taplin.

This had an effect on them as they came out more determined in the second half.

In attack Ajax seemed rejuvenated, hitting the post twice from some good shots, and a fine header from Deven despairingly going over the bar by inches.

It wasn’t to be for the colts and they ended up on the losing side and out of their first cup competition.

Bilton Ajax 1 – 0 Hillmorton

Supplementary Cup Semi Final

In their first season of competitive football, Bilton Ajax Colts booked a place in their first final with a nervy one nil win over local rivals Hillmorton.

With the amount of possession that Ajax had, the game should have been put out of the visitors reach by the half time whistle.

The midfield trio of Taylor, Daniel and Aston were strong in attack and defence and threaded some telling balls through to front men Deven and Luke but the Hillmorton defence stood strong.

On the odd occasion that Hillmorton did break the Ajax defensive line great cover defending from Cameron and a fine save from William kept them at bay.

In the second half, and with the crowd getting restless, a good through ball found Deven who calmly slotted the ball in to the net even with 2 Hillmorton players breathing down his neck.

With time running out Ajax could have made it more with a curling free kick from Dan just going wide and Ethan just missing out on a tap in by the width of a boot.

Good passages of play, with passing and movement the key showed that Ajax have the ability to lift the trophy in their build up play, but they do need to sharpen up on their finishing and their ability to put the ball in the back of the net.
